Just a heads up to our families who travel from Virginia Beach. Please plan accordingly. (Oct 5th through Oct 26th)

NORTH LANDING BRIDGE WILL SHUT DOWN TO VEHICLES DURING OCTOBER REPAIRS

NORTH LANDING, Va. (Jane Alvarez-Wertz, WAVY) – The North Landing Bridge, which spans the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway on the border between Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, will be closed to vehicle traffic for most of October. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issued a “Notice to Mariners” about upcoming repairs to the bridge.

The repairs, scheduled for Oct. 5 through Oct. 26, will restore the bridge to its regular opening schedule. The U.S. Army Corps advised planning for the bridge to be closed to vehicle traffic by 12 a.m. on Oct. 5, so it will not be available for the morning commute.

During the repair period, the bridge will remain open to navigation, but will be closed to vehicle traffic. Mariners can refer to the U.S. Coast Guard Local Notice to Mariners for updates on this project.
