Some legacies aren't measured only in years. They're measured in lives saved, patients cared for, families comforted, and communities strengthened.
Since opening as Norfolk's first nursing school in 1892, Sentara College of Health Sciences has prepared generations of compassionate healthcare professionals who have answered the call to serve. More than 9,500 alumni have carried that mission into hospitals, clinics, operating rooms, classrooms, and communities throughout Virginia and beyond, making a difference in countless lives every day.
We're proud to honor the students, alumni, faculty, and staff who built this extraordinary legacy and continue to carry it forward through their dedication to caring for others. Thank you for the immeasurable impact you have made, and continue to make, across our communities.
Sentara College of Health Sciences has become an operating division of Batten University, expanding opportunities for students pursuing careers in nursing and the health sciences while helping address critical healthcare workforce needs throughout our region. As this storied legacy continues, we can't wait to see what the next generation of graduates will accomplish in service to patients, families, and communities everywhere.

Collaboration π€ team-building π€ student success
Our annual nursing faculty retreat provided an opportunity for faculty to collaborate and discuss continuous improvements. Along with a productive work session, they enjoyed team-building activities and a guided tour of future office space, which helped us envision the next chapter of our nursing program.
Overall, our team left feeling energized and ready to continue delivering excellent nursing education!
