Twenty five years ago, our nation experienced a day that changed us forever.

As I prepared for work this morning, I stopped to pray and remembered the words many of us know from Mister Rogers:

“Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

When I think about September 11, I think about the helpers.

First responders running toward danger.

Strangers helping strangers.

Neighbors caring for one another.

Service members answering the call.

Ordinary people choosing to serve.

Twenty five years later, that is a lesson I hope we continue teaching our children.

Scripture tells us:

“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2

Our children may never fully understand what September 11 felt like for those of us who lived through it, and I pray they never experience anything like it.

But they can learn from how people responded.

Help the person who is hurting.

Serve when no one is watching.

Show compassion to someone who is different from you.

Carry one another’s burdens.

Love your neighbor.

Today, as we remember those we lost, may we also teach the next generation to follow Christ by becoming the helpers.

Never forget. 🇺🇸

Thank you Christa Gunsauley (Port Haven mom) for this beautifully written charge for today.

🎳 What a FUN night!
Our Back-to-School Bowling Night was a huge success! We had over 50 students, parents, teachers, and friends come out for an evening of bowling, laughter, and time together.
One of our favorite parts of the Port Haven community is getting to spend time together outside of the classroom, building friendships and making memories as a school family.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so much fun! We’re already looking forward to the next event.

What a beautiful way to begin a new school year at Port Haven. ❤️
Our school creed begins:
“I am a Port Haven Student. I will carefully develop humility as I grow in likeness to Jesus.”
Yesterday morning, before students ever entered their classrooms, our Port Haven community gathered together at the flagpole. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators joined in prayer—praying over one another, our school, and the year ahead.
Then, as we came together for our first General Assembly, we began with praise and worship centered on one simple but important call: follow Jesus.
Academics matter. Achievement matters. Growth matters. But at Port Haven, we want everything we do to begin with Christ.
Our prayer for this year is that our students will grow not only in knowledge and ability, but in humility, wisdom, courage, love, and likeness to Jesus—becoming young men and women who are disciplined in soul, mind, and body for God’s glory.
We are grateful for the families, teachers, and students God has brought together for the 2026–2027 school year, and we cannot wait to see what He does through this community.
Welcome back, Port Haven! Here’s to a wonderful year of learning, growing, serving, and following Jesus together. ⚓️❤️
