Delta Phi Alpha (ΔΦΑ) seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship.

The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and culture. The National German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha, seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to humanity's eternal search for peace and truth.

🇩🇪🇺🇸 The American Council on Germany , AATG (American Association of Teachers of German), and German Studies Association are teaming up to launch a new three-part webinar series on “German Politics Today: Meet a Bundestag Member.”

Part 2 will take place on November 20 at 11:00 AM ET and will feature Elisabeth Kaiser, Federal Government Commissioner for Eastern Germany and Member of the Bundestag, who will join ACG President Dr. Steven E. Sokol for a 45-minute moderated discussion on the history, significance, and ongoing legacy of German reunification. The session will be held entirely in German.

AATG is delighted to announce a brand-new grant for college and university programs with Delta Phi Alpha chapters.
This Delta Phi Alpha grant project seeks to provide support to increase visibility for German programs when sufficient support is not readily available. College and university German programs may apply for projects up to $500 that promote German on campus and within the community.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Diversity and Social (In)Justice in German as a Foreign Language (DivDaF) Summer Seminar.

All US-based teachers of German as a foreign language at schools and universities, especially multipliers with tasks in teacher training, mentoring, professional development, or in the supervision of other educators, are invited to apply.

AATG is delighted to announce a brand-new Study Abroad Scholarship for College Students. Students can apply for grant funding of up to $1250 during two application cycles:

The Spring/Summer application deadline is February 1, 2025 for programs commencing in the first half of the calendar year (January-July) of 2025. Recipients will be notified in early March. Applications are open now:
