Derreus Diaz, 9th grade, and Russell Reed, 11th grade, at Cherokee High School have officially earned their Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) Certifications, a nationally recognized credential sponsored by Intuit and NFTE. This certification proves they understand the key skills needed to launch and run a business, from core principles to developing a true entrepreneurial mindset. The ESB certification prepares students for college, postsecondary training, or entering the small business world directly after graduation. They are now one step closer to being their own bosses, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Way to go!

Our Cherokee High School CTE students had a meaningful experience on Tuesday with the ⚾️ Atlanta Braves marketing team. Students were able to explore the many sides of marketing within a major organization and see how creativity, collaboration, and strategy come together in real world work. We are truly grateful for the time, kindness, and encouragement shown to our students, and for helping them connect classroom learning to future career possibilities. We look forward to continuing to collaborate moving forward.

Students also visited New Echota State Historic Site where they received a guided tour and learned about its important role in Cherokee history. The experience gave students a deeper understanding of the events that took place there and the significance of preserving and honoring that history. From all of us in the Cherokee High School CTE Department, we are thankful for these enriching opportunities that help our students learn, reflect, and grow beyond the classroom.

The students learned about real world welding applications on the job site, job prospects, and the qualities and skills employers look for in employees. Students were also introduced to stick welding. The Cherokee Central Schools CTE Department would like to thank Tyler Blankenship, Sam Toineeta, Josh Taylor, and Fred Squirrell for your time and patience with our students.
