Ready to take your gaming skills to the next level? Northeastern Technical College (NETC) Esports is currently recruiting players for its collegiate teams.

Recruitment is open to NETC full-time, part-time and dual-enrollment students who are interested in being part of the Trailblazer Esports team. NETC is especially looking for players to build teams for Call of Duty, Fortnite, Madden, Rocket League and Valorant.

Students interested in other games are also encouraged to sign up. If there is enough interest to build a team, NETC may also compete in other games offered through the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) this fall, including:

NETC officially launched its Esports program in Fall 2020. As a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), NETC competes in Region 10 against two-year colleges in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Northeastern Technical College Foundation will host a Clay Shoot Fundraiser on Friday, October 23, at Moree's Sportsman Preserve in Society Hill, with proceeds benefiting student scholarships and other initiatives that support Northeastern Technical College. ⁠

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the clay shoot at 9:30 a.m. ⁠

The event is presented by Mad Katz and Scotland Healthcare System and is open to individuals and teams. The cost to participate is $600 for a four-person team or $150 for an individual participant. Registration includes am******on, lunch, awards, an ice cream social, and a participant gift bag. ⁠

In addition to the sporting clay competition, attendees and community members will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for a 2026 Kawasaki Mule. Raffle tickets are $20 each, with discounted pricing available for those who purchase multiple tickets. ⁠

Businesses and industries are also invited to support the event through sponsorship opportunities, helping the Foundation continue its mission of providing financial assistance to students and enhancing educational opportunities across the communities served by Northeastern Technical College. ⁠

NETC PIO and Marketing/Public Relations Coordinator Shannon Justice recently joined approximately 65 community and technical college marketing professionals in Nashville, Tennessee, for the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) District 2 Conference.

Held Sept. 30-Oct. 2, the “Turn Up the Volume: Tuning In to Strategy, Storytelling, and Student Success,” themed conference focused on professional development, networking, and sharing new ideas for reaching and engaging students. Sessions explored marketing strategies, storytelling, emerging trends and student-centered communications.

NCMPR is the leading professional development organization dedicated exclusively to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year community and technical colleges. The organization has more than 1,600 members representing nearly 600 colleges across the United States and Canada. District 2 includes colleges throughout the Southeast, including South Carolina.

Justice currently serves on the NCMPR District 2 Executive Council as Medallion Awards Coordinator. The Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in marketing and communications among community and technical colleges throughout the district. She has previously served at the South Carolina representative for NCMPR District 2, and is a 2025 graduate of the NCMPR Leadership Institute.

"NCMPR has been a valuable resource to me during my time here at NETC. For the past 13 years, it has given me the opportunity to connect with other marketing professionals across the nation, and step outside of my day-to-day work to learn from others and bring fresh ideas back toNETC,” said Justice. “Ultimately, the work we all do is about our students. Every story we tell, campaign we create and connection we build is another opportunity to help students see what is possible for their future.”

NETC administration and college department leaders participate in Responsive Leadership Training coordinated by the South Carolina Technical College System on Wednesday, September 30.

Beth White, retired educator, and current faculty member of the University of South Carolina School of Education, led the professional development training.

The training focused on authentic and transparent leadership, collaboration, and empathetic engagement.

Our District Teacher of the Year, Jessica Deaton, is leading a districtwide Coat Drive to help ensure our students have the warm clothing they need this winter!

From October 5–30, 2026, we invite our families, staff, churches, community partners, and friends of MCSD to join us in supporting this special initiative.

We are collecting new or gently used coats and new gloves, scarves, and hats in sizes 3T through Adult 4X. Gently used coats should be clean and in good condition, and donations may be dropped off at Bennettsville Primary School.

Every coat and winter accessory donated can make a difference for a student in our community.

Northeastern Technical College's NJCAA Trailblazer Golf Team competed in its second event of the fall season along with eleven other colleges and universities.

The tournament was hosted by Milligan University of Johnson City, Tennessee. The host course was Johnson City Country Club which was designed by one of the all-time great golf course architects, A.W. Tillinghast. It opened in 1913.

TRAILBLAZER GOLF STANDINGS:

Landon Crosby led the team with rounds of 78-76 to finish T48. Crosby earned an Albatross with his second shot from 192 yards out on 13th hole!

Brayden Mangum finished alone in 71st place with rounds of 84 and 85.

Rodney Atkinson placed 72nd with rounds of 91 and 79.

Cody Watkins finished alone in 73rd place with rounds of 88 and 86.

Drake Morris started with a respectable 81, but following problems on day two his score soared to an even 100.

The golf course, designed by A.W. Tillinghast proved to be a formidable foe for most of the tournament field. With its winding fairways and undulating greens there were a lot of quizzical looks throughout the event. The golf course superintendent had the golf course in fabulous condition and the weather could not have been better. Sunny skies and mild temperatures ruled the event.

This next week, Trailblazer Golf will head back to Morristown, Tennessee to compete in the Walters State Community College Golf Tournament at The Country Club. NETC golfers are looking forward to returning to the Morristown, where they played their District Tournament this past spring.

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) exceeded its donation goal during a blood drive held October 1 in partnership with OneBlood and the Big Red Bus.

The goal for the drive was to collect 10 units of blood, but NETC faculty, staff, students and community members stepped up to donate 17 units... 70 percent more than the original goal. A total of 22 people came out and offered to donate.

According to OneBlood, the turnout was the best the organization has seen at an NETC blood drive. Because each donation takes time to complete, staff were able to collect 17 units during the scheduled drive. OneBlood plans to bring additional technicians to the next NETC event to help accommodate even more donors.

“We collected 17 units from your blood drive, which is the best this account has ever done,” said Josh Facer, OneBlood Account Representative. “That equates to potentially saving 51 lives in the local community. That is simply outstanding! Thank you for your partnership and commitment to our mission of saving lives.”

NETC thanks everyone who participated in the blood drive and helped make the event a success.
