📐✨ Math Comes to Life in Mrs. Rushing’s 6th Grade Math Class! ✨📐

6th grade mathematicians took their learning from the paper to 3D! 📦

Students graphed and created nets of 3D shapes, then used those nets to explore each face of the solid. They calculated the area and perimeter of every face, putting together all of the pieces to better understand how 2D shapes come together to create 3D figures.

This hands-on activity allowed students to see the connection between geometry, measurement, area, perimeter, and 3D shapes in a way that made the math meaningful—and FUN! ❤️📏

I love seeing my students build, measure, calculate, and explain their thinking. When students can touch the math, build the math, and talk about the math, those learning moments become so much more powerful! 🧠📐

Mrs. Rushing’s mathematicians are building more than shapes—they’re building understanding! 💪📚

Mrs. Rushing’s 6th grade mathematicians took our learning outside the classroom and put area into action! Instead of just solving problems on paper, students measured the hallway floor tiles and used their measurements to find the area of a real-world space.

It was a great opportunity for students to see that math isn’t just something we do in a workbook—it’s something we use to understand and measure the world around us! 📐✨

I love watching students make those connections and realize, “Oh…this is why we need math!”
