Last night at our Spring Athletic Awards Night, we had the pleasure of recognizing three outstanding student-athletes who plan to continue both their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

These athletes have given their all to Madras High School, and we are proud to celebrate them as they sign their letters of intent to their respective schools and programs.

Dezmond Montiel โ€“ Football
Dezmond competed in football and was also a member of the MHS Powerlifting team. This year, he earned 2nd Team All-League Offensive Lineman honors in Special District 3 and helped lead the White Buffalos to a shared league championship. Dezmond was also recognized with Madras High Schoolโ€™s Academic Turnaround Student Award this spring.

Dezmond plans to continue both his academic and athletic career at Linfield University, where he will continue his football career.

Congratulations, Dezmond!

Earl Oliver โ€“ Wrestling
Earl participated in wrestling at Madras High School all four years and built an outstanding career on the mat. He is an All-State wrestler who earned Outstanding Wrestler honors two years in a row, finishing with 44 wins as a junior and 40 wins as a senior. Earl is also a two-time OSAA 4A State placer, earning 3rd place as a junior and 4th place as a senior.

This fall, Earl plans to attend Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, where he will continue both his academic and wrestling career.

Hope Wright โ€“ Track & Field
Hope has been a four-year Track & Field athlete at Madras High School. This season, she earned Honorable Mention All-League recognition in the Triple Jump and was also named MHS Athlete of the Month in April.

Hope plans to continue both her academic and athletic career at Corban University in Salem, where she will compete on the Track & Field team while pursuing a bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Administration.

We are incredibly proud of all three of these student-athletes and thank them for their dedication to Madras High School. We wish them nothing but success at the next level!

Once a White Buffalo, Always a White Buffalo!

STATE SUCCESS FOR WHITE BUFF TENNIS! ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŽพ

What an amazing showing for MHS Tennis at the 2026 OSAA State Championships! The White Buffs were represented by 6 girls tennis athletes including doubles teams Elizah Pope/Katie Puddy and Myah Pope/Haley Burts, along with singles players Cypress Toman and Nancy Quinto. Every MHS athlete earned at least one match victory at state, showcasing the hard work and dedication of our program!

A special congratulations to Jr. Cypress Toman, who battled her way through the consolation bracket, defeating a Pendleton opponent in the consolation finals to earn an incredible 5th Place finish at State! Cypress and teammate Sr. Nancy Quinto even matched up in the consolation semifinals in an all-Madras battle! What an accomplishment for MHS Girls Tennis! ๐ŸŽ‰

On the boys side, Sr. Isidro Olivera represented the White Buffs with pride, fighting his way to the Boys Singles Consolation Finals and finishing an impressive 6th Place in State!

We are incredibly proud of all of our White Buff tennis athletes for their effort, resilience, and outstanding representation of Madras High School this season!
