Many folks have asked about cost. There is a $75 registration fee for the school year. This includes the patterns and directions for all projects, an organizational binder, and various notions like thread, elastic and ribbon. In addition, each weekly hour-long class is $15. Students are responsible for their own fabric unless they choose to use some of my fabric overflow. In that case, they may have it for free (not a lot of variety, however).
Sew Much Fun With Dawn
Sewing lessons for all ages! Have fun learning the art of sewing in a cozy home setting.
Well, last year went by so quickly! My students were amazing! Everyone learned so much. I had anticipated taking lots of photos, but staying on top of the action in the sewing room pretty much made that impossible!
Year Two begins in a couple of weeks. Without a part-time job to deal with I'll have lots more time to plan and prepare for the little sewists (yes, that is the most up-to-date term!). I'm busy working on samples of this year's curriculum and will post them soon.

Sewing classes are going well. Three students so far with a couple of others in the offing. One student is so excited she is coming both days I have lessons! I hope to get some photos of the sewists in action this week. What fun!
Great first class on Wednesday. Two young girls who are very excited about learning to sew with another in the wings for next week. I had forgotten just how much I love teaching!
🎼 Tomorrow, tomorrow, class begins tomorrow!
It’s only a day away!
While my first class of students begins on Wednesday, September 13, new students may begin at any time. While classes are limited to four students, new classes will be formed as needed.
Classes begin a week from Wednesday, on September 15. I will be instituting some specific COVID safety measures: all machines will be wiped down after each class, hand washing and/or sanitizer will be used at the beginning of each class, and students will each have their own tools to use each week. The issue of masking will be left up to parents, but I will mask up for each class.
Happy sewing!
I have my first student! I’m so pleased. The dream is becoming a reality. Yay!
Here are the details for my sewing classes:
I will be using the Kids Can Sew curriculum to teach sewing in my home after school. In order to provide plenty of individual attention, classes will include no more than 4 students. Patterns, instructions, and some materials (elastic, ribbon, felt, etc.) are included in the $75 registration fee. This fee is for the whole school year. In addition each class will cost $15/hour. Students will need to provide fabric of their choice for each project. Samples of first year projects are posted and include a large and small bag, two different styles of blouses, a skirt, pants, a nightgown and a cute cat pillow. The drawstring bags will be the first project; students may then choose to do the other projects in any order.
