I am newly married to Kris Swenson after being widowed for 8 years. Kris has 2 sons and a daughter.
I have been a lifelong member of the Cheney Community. I went to Betz Elementary, Four Lakes Elementary, Cheney
Junior High and Cheney High School. Earning my BA in Finance from EWU and have lived in the Cheney area most of my life.
Starting with me, 20 of my family members have attended Cheney Schools, including all of my 5 daughters. We have had a small Christmas Tree farm in operation for over 30 years in the Cheney area as well as owning a coffee shop in Cheney. Members of my family have and are teachers in our district. My family has been very active in the Cheney Community for decades in many varied endeavors.
I have served on many non-profit boards over the years. Most recently having served on the Cheney School District as a board of directors member these last 7 1/2 years. For the past 2 1/2 years I have served as the President of the Board. As you can see, we (myself and my family) are ALL IN in our Cheney, West Plains, and Airway Heights areas.
It has been an honor to serve our West Plains communities these past almost 8 years and I am totally convinced that our district does an excellent job of communicating with our parents on all issues asked about, whether it be instruction or books or bussing, on and on. I am not a teacher, I am a parent and new grandparent so I, like you, are concerned with what our kids are taught in our schools. I can without a doubt tell you that our teachers, staff, administration, and Board have only one focus: the safety and education of the children we serve in the Cheney Public Schools. Our staff listen and really are here for all our kids. As a member of the board, I get to see this in action day in and day out.
It has been an honor to serve our community, and I am excited to serve our community moving forward. I have no agenda, only my love for OUR kids and OUR community and I hope
to be able to continue that for another term, if elected.
