💚 A day to celebrate the mental health and wellness of our youth 💚

We hosted our annual Youth Mental Health Day event on Thursday at the Williams School, bringing together students, families, staff, and community partners in support of youth mental health, wellness, and belonging.

The event was a tremendous success, with approximately 450 people in attendance. Students and families had the opportunity to connect with local organizations, learn about mental health and community-based resources, participate in activities, and celebrate the importance of supporting the whole child.

A special shoutout to our three Community Impact Champions: Jen Winsor from the Clark Avenue Middle School, Deanna McQueen from the ELC and CHS SRO Damian Strait.

We are grateful to all staff, volunteers, departments, and community organizations who helped make the event possible.

Initiatives like Youth Mental Health Day are a reflection of CPS' commitment to support the social, emotional, and mental health needs of our school community.

💚 Un día para celebrar la salud mental y el bienestar de nuestra juventud 💚

El jueves celebramos nuestro evento anual del Día de la Salud Mental Juvenil en la Escuela Williams, reuniendo a estudiantes, familias, miembros del personal y organizaciones comunitarias para apoyar la salud mental, el bienestar y el sentido de pertenencia de nuestros jóvenes.

El evento fue todo un éxito, con aproximadamente 450 personas asistentes. Los estudiantes y sus familias tuvieron la oportunidad de conectarse con organizaciones locales, conocer recursos de salud mental y apoyo comunitario, participar en actividades y celebrar la importancia de apoyar el desarrollo integral de cada estudiante.

Un reconocimiento especial para nuestros tres Campeones de Impacto Comunitario: Jen Winsor de la Escuela Intermedia Clark Avenue, Deanna McQueen del ELC y Damian Strait de CHS.

Agradecemos a todo el personal, voluntarios, departamentos y organizaciones comunitarias que ayudaron a hacer posible este evento.

Iniciativas como el Día de la Salud Mental Juvenil reflejan el compromiso de CPS de apoyar las necesidades sociales, emocionales y de salud mental de toda nuestra comunidad escolar.

This week featured celebrations of academic success such as students at the Wright on ACCESS and CHS student graduating from the AVID program. There were also a few family events in district including Multicultural Nights at the ELC and Sokolowski!

𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨

Chelsea High School proudly hosted its Annual Early College Celebration on Wednesday, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of all 327 students participating in the Early College program! The event brought together students, families, educators, and community leaders for an evening of celebration, reflection, and inspiration.

Attendees enjoyed a shared meal while hearing from a number of distinguished speakers who highlighted the hard work and dedication of Chelsea’s Early College students. The celebration honored students for their academic achievements and commitment to advancing their education through college-level coursework.

Among the highlights of the evening:

🔹 68 students were celebrated for earning 12 or more college credits
🔹 222 students achieved Dean’s List honors
🔹 7 rising seniors attended Bunker Hill Community College full time during the academic year & were recognized as being the first Early College "NEXT" Cohort

The Annual Early College Celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the strong partnership between CPS and Bunker Hill Community College, as well as the dedication of students, educators, and families who make the program’s success possible.

Congratulations to all of Chelsea High School’s Early College students on an incredible year of achievement.

A special day of learning and leadership for the Sokolowski School Student Council!

Student Council members recently visited the Chelsea School Department, where they met with CPS district leaders and central office staff as well as Chelsea School Committee members to learn more about district leadership, public education, and the work that goes into supporting students across Chelsea Public Schools.

Students also toured City Hall and the School Department and had the opportunity to meet with municipal leaders including City Manager Fidel Maltez to learn more about local government and how city and school leaders work together to serve the Chelsea community.

¡Un día especial de aprendizaje y liderazgo para el Consejo Estudiantil de la Escuela Sokolowski!

Recientemente, los miembros del Consejo Estudiantil visitaron el Departamento Escolar de Chelsea, donde se reunieron con líderes del distrito de CPS, personal de la oficina central y miembros del Comité Escolar de Chelsea para aprender más sobre el liderazgo educativo, la educación pública y el trabajo que se realiza para apoyar a los estudiantes en todas las Escuelas Públicas de Chelsea.

A special shoutout to all of our students who recently presented research projects at the Chelsea Research Festival!

Middle school and high school students presented projects they have been working on throughout the school year. Topics ranged from AI usage among high school students and the health effects of increased screen time and exposure to blue light to the impact of dropped Chromebooks and the materials needed to best protect the devices, the Cold Cup Challenge, and more.

For the first time, students from all three of our middle schools (Browne, Clark, and Wright) joined CHS students at the festival.

¡Un reconocimiento especial para todos nuestros estudiantes que recientemente presentaron proyectos de investigación en el Chelsea Research Festival!

Estudiantes de escuela intermedia y secundaria presentaron proyectos en los que han trabajado durante todo el año escolar. Congratulations to our students and staff who recently were recognized during the Graduation ceremony for the Teacher Pathway Program!

Staff were honored for graduating from Salem State and the PSI program while students were honored for graduating from the high school to teacher pathway program.

Parents of students with disabilities are invited to attend the next SEPAC meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 9:00-10:30 AM at Chelsea Public Schools' office building at 77 Webster Avenue.

The meeting will include a presentation from the Massachusetts Advocates for Children about bullying. Chelsea Public Schools Director of Student Operations and Compliance Felicia Pasley will answer questions about bullying in the school district.

Parents are encouraged to attend, connect with other families, and learn more about their rights and resources. For more information, please contact the Special Education Department at 617-466-5036.

A throwback to photos from past Youth Mental Health Day celebrations!

Tomorrow we will gather once again for our annual celebration that showcases the importance of youth mental health! There will be activities for kids of all ages like the ones in these photos as well as access to community resources to support of the wellness of our students and school communities.

We hope to see you tomorrow at the Williams School from 3:00-5:00. The event will be moved inside to the gym if it rains.

Mañana nos reuniremos una vez más para nuestra celebración anual que destaca la importancia de la salud mental de los jóvenes. Dr. Abeyta was invited by the Harlem Children's Zone and Harvard EdRedesign to speak at the Place-Based Education Institute about Personalization as a Success Strategy: Leveling the Playing Field for Students.

The session focused on how place-based, personalized supports are a critical, proven strategy that can reshape systems to meet the full spectrum of children and families’ needs and anchor a broader cradle-to-career place-based strategy.

And, Founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone Geoffrey Canada made a special visit to the institute.

La Dra. Abeyta fue invitada por Harlem Children’s Zone y Harvard EdRedesign a participar como panelista en el Instituto de Educación Basada en el Lugar (Place-Based Education Institute) para hablar sobre la personalización como estrategia para el éxito: nivelando el terreno de juego para los estudiantes.

La sesión se centró en cómo los apoyos personalizados y basados en la comunidad son una estrategia comprobada y fundamental para transformar los sistemas educativos, responder a la amplia variedad de necesidades de niños y familias, y servir como base para una estrategia integral “desde la cuna hasta la carrera profesional” enfocada en la comunidad.

Además, el fundador de Harlem Children’s Zone, Geoffrey Canada, realizó una visita especial al instituto.
