Chelsea Public Schools welcomed its new teachers to the school district this week at New Educator Orientation!

Educators established relationships with their mentors, learned about different aspects of their school communities, and left the orientation with support to plan and implement lessons at the start of the school year.

We are so excited to welcome our newest educators to the school district and know you all will do an amazing job knowing our students by name, strength and story!

To the thousands of students and families who joined us at yesterday's Back to School Celebration, thank you for making it such a special afternoon!

Our entire community gathered to not only celebrate the start of a new school year, but to showcase all the resources and support systems available to our youth and families in Chelsea.

We hope everyone had a great afternoon! We look forward to our upcoming first days of school on Wednesday, August 26th (1st-12th grade) and Monday, August 31st (Pre-K & Kindergarten).

Here we go!

Our school staff and community partners have arrived, and setup is underway for today's Back to School Celebration!

Join us starting at 1:00 outside at the Williams School. Families and students will enter via Arlington Street. Schools will have supplies and backpacks (while supplies last) for students as well as information about the upcoming school year.

Our community partners will be located along Walnut Street and will have resources for families as well as information about the services they provide the community.

We are 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 from the start of the new school year!

Students in grades 1-12 will have their first day of school next Wednesday (August 26). Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten at the ELC will have their first day of school on Monday, August 31.

The event was great for all with team building, learning what to expect at CHS, and chromebook distribution. The staff, student leaders, and incoming students had a great day getting to know each other and CHS.

For a group of Chelsea students, members of the CHS football team, CPS staff and the Chelsea Police Department's (CPD) Build the Base team, last Thursday was an incredibly memorable evening.

The New England Patriots invited this special group to attend last Thursday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium. Chelsea youth were in attendance for the defending conference champions first game of the 2026 season.

We are incredibly grateful to the Patriots for providing this opportunity for our students, and thankful for the collaboration with City of Chelsea constituents and CPD that help create moments like this for our youth.

Para un grupo de estudiantes de Chelsea, miembros del equipo de fútbol americano de CHS, personal de CPS y miembros del equipo Build the Base del Departamento de Policía de Chelsea (CPD), el jueves pasado fue una noche verdaderamente inolvidable.

Come by tomorrow to the Tobin Takeover at Port Park between 1 and 6pm and check out (some) of the old uniforms and warmups we have. We all will have some sport specific fan shirts.
All funds raised go directly back to the athletic department for varsity jackets and dinner for award nights.

📚 Exciting progress in early literacy at Chelsea Public Schools!

CPS has been awarded $62,000 from the Healey-Driscoll Administration to continue strengthening high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction for our youngest learners.

The grant comes as Chelsea students are showing tremendous growth in reading. Last school year, 86% of students participating in targeted early literacy instruction fully mastered foundational phonics skills, while more than 85% of participating students who began the year developing kindergarten-level foundational skills demonstrated significant growth and reached grade-level benchmarks by the end of the year.

This progress reflects the collective work of our students, educators and school leaders, along with investments in high-quality instructional materials and partnerships with Ignite Reading that provide students with targeted literacy support.

📚 ¡Grandes avances en alfabetización temprana en las Escuelas Públicas de Chelsea!

CPS ha recibido $62,000 de la Administración Healey-Driscoll para continuar fortaleciendo la enseñanza de alfabetización de alta calidad y basada en evidencia para nuestros estudiantes más pequeños.

Esta subvención llega en un momento en que los estudiantes de Chelsea están demostrando un gran crecimiento en la lectura.
