Let’s go, Be The One!

🎉 Welcome to the start of the 2026–2027 American Legion year! 🇺🇸

Today marks the beginning of a new membership year, and membership renewals and new memberships are officially underway. Let’s make this our best year yet by growing our Legion family and continuing our mission of serving veterans, their families, our communities, and our nation.

As we kick off the new year, let’s also remember the importance of Buddy Checks. With the summer heat upon us, now is a great time to reach out to your fellow Legionnaires, Sons, Auxiliary members, and Riders. A simple phone call, text, or visit can make all the difference.

If your post is able, consider opening your doors as a cooling shelter for veterans and community members needing relief from the heat. It’s another meaningful way we can live our values and support those around us.

Here’s to a successful 2026–2027 year filled with service, fellowship, and membership growth. Let’s get out there, renew, recruit, and take care of one another!

In accordance with the U.S. Flag Code [U.S.C. Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 7(m)], on Memorial Day the United States flag is to be displayed at half-staff from sunrise until noon only, then raised briskly to the top of the staff.

American Legion Herbert J. McKune Post 31 would like to extend an invitation to any Veteran who would like to participate in the parade along side with Post 31.

Participants are requested to show up at the Municipal Parking lot east of Main St at 930AM. Any veteran is welcomed, no organizational affiliation or uniforms required.

Accommodations are available for those unable to march the entire route.

May 25, 2026: Memorial Day Events:

Parade in Chelsea begins at 10AM; ceremony in Oak Grove Cemetery to follow.

The route starts in Municipal Lot 1 (Behind Purple Rose Theater)
The beginning comes out of the alley to E Middle St,
Travels West on E Middle St to Main St,
Travels South on Main St to Park St,
Travels East on Park St to S East St,
Travels North on S East St to E Middle St,
From E Middle St into Oak Grove Cemetery.

Post 31 will host an Open House at the Post, 1700 Ridge Rd @ 12PM. Food and drinks provided--all are welcomed.
