Nearly two decades ago, I began asking a question that I couldn't shake:
Who will do something?
As a teacher and a parent, I was seeing things that troubled me.
Children who were losing confidence.
Children whose strengths and talents were going unnoticed.
Children who were capable of so much more than they realized.
I listened to families. I listened to students. And I kept coming back to the same question:
Who will do something?
Eventually, I realized I was asking the wrong question.
The better question was:
Will I do something?
That question became my mission.
It set me on a path that ultimately led to the creation of Drake Academy.
People sometimes ask me if opening a school is a lot of work.
The answer is yes.
But for me, this has never been just a job or a project.
It's a calling.
A calling to advocate for children.
A calling to help young people discover the greatness already within them.
A calling to create an environment where children are seen, valued, challenged, and empowered to lead themselves and contribute meaningfully to the world.
Because I believe every child possesses innate greatness, and I believe education should help bring that greatness to life.
