Meet your instructor! Reid Balmelli is a lifelong Chehalis local who fell in love with flying at the age of 14. His passion for flight was so strong that he learned to fly before ever driving a car on his own. Reid trained and graduated from the Sierra Charlie Aviation flight school in Scottsdale, Arizona, and then returned to Chehalis and started his own flight school at the age of 20, with a unique focus on personalized, 1-on-1 instruction. So, what actually happens when you decide to explore Private Pilot training? It starts with a intro flight to explore the sky and decide if it's the right fit for you. Then, you'll get an FAA Medical Certificate to affirm you're medical fitness to fly. After that, flight training begins! You'll learn from the ground and the skies for about 3 months, then pass a written exam to begin flying solo. The next several months will see you through your cross-country training & FAA Written Exam, after which you'll prep for and complete your final checkride. You'll be fully supported the whole way by a local aviation community, and the journey will be priceless. Ready to learn more?
