AAUW Buffalo Branch American Association of University Women, Buffalo, NY Branch AAUW encourages diversity and has adopted the following:

1.

In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

2. AAUW, founded in 1881, is open to all graduates who hold an associate's or equivalent or higher degree from an accredited college or university. Those wh

o do not hold such a degree can affiliate as Friends of the Buffalo Branch, and undergradutes may become Student Affiliates.

3. AAUW is the oldest and largest national organization working for all women and girls, with more than 100,000 members.

4. The AAUW Educational Foundation provides funds to advance education, research, and self-development for women.

5. AAUW's Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for gender discrimination.

The “Adult Learners in Transition” scholarship is designed to address situations where education was disrupted due to moving, family circumstances, health problems, inadequate funds, need to work, etc., for women on a non-traditional path, self-supporting/independent students, those who need further education to advance in their career, and those who do not qualify for other AAUW scholarships.

*Clarine Radt Mini-Grants*
AAUW Buffalo Branch established a program of mini-grants for the use of public school teachers, funding projects in line with the mission of AAUW. These grants utilize funds received through a bequest of our member Clarine Radt. She was a teacher & mother, interested in all areas of education, especially special education.
