We wanted to share a few photos that were sent to us from the CCSD All Choral Concert that took place on Wednesday, March 23rd. The pictured students are from 5-8 Chorale. It was a wonderful performance!

CCMS student, Malik, plants seeds in the terrarium for his group during Mrs. Meller's fifth grade science class.
Fifth graders in Mrs. Meller's class have been learning about molecules throughout a Modeling Matter Science Unit. Students have been applying concepts that they’ve studied throughout the unit and created a salad dressing that had to be completely mixed and not have any sediment.

Union East Elementary School teacher, Mrs. Dudas, facilitated an anti-bullying/kindness program called, "Be Kind. Stick Together Against Bullying." At the end of the presentation, students took a pledge against bullying, and to show more kindness towards others, and then they signed their name on a piece of duct tape on a very large banner which now hangs at the cafeteria entrance.
Mrs. Newton's kindergarten class at Union East Elementary School made spring tulips using complementary colors purple and yellow. They used forks to print the flowers and their fingers for the stems. They turned out great!
Union East Elementary School currently has a beautiful art display up of student created African Mudcloths and Ndebele symmetrical art designs.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Mar. 30, is Jersey Mike’s Subs “Day of Giving” event. The Hamburg location (3670 McKinley Pkwy, Hamburg, NY 14219) will donate 100% of their sales to the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, which 10 of our athletes are participating in. Please consider ordering.

Cheektowaga Central High School studio art students have been working on color scheme paintings. Stay tuned for finished projects which will be on display at the art show in May. The art show will be located in the high school lobby. More details to come!
As a district, our staff and students raised over $1,400 for Ukraine. Members of the Ambassadors Club joined staff at Sam’s Club and purchased requested donation items and dropped them off to the Ukrainian Holy Trinity Orthodox Church. We thank you for your generosity.

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Stonebraker’s honors science class at Cheektowaga Central Middle School just completed the Beaks of Finches Lab. This lab involves the simulation of finches with various beaks competing for food in an island habit.
Last week CCMS held a very successful Charity Fest event. Students and staff had fun dressing up in different theme days and raised $360 for Ukraine relief, Buffalo Underdogs Rescue, Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, and the Suicide Prevention Program at the VA.
Seventh graders assembled care packages to support the people of Ukraine. Mrs. Schneegold’s seventh graders sorting toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorants, granola bars, socks, clothes, toys, and diapers. The students felt a sense of pride helping others during this difficult time.

The students in Mrs. Szpylman's second grade class at Union East Elementary School have been studying Earth's water and how it shapes the Earth's surface. In this lesson, the students created models of mountains to demonstrate that Earth's water flows downhill.

Students from Mrs. Meller's Cheektowaga Central Middle School fifth grade class investigated corn starch, flour, and lecithin to discover which one would be an emulsifier when mixed with oil and water.
Union East Elementary School fourth grade students from Mrs. Platt's class are learning about the Ndebele South African tribe and creating artwork based on their artistic style of using simplistic geometric shapes, symmetry, bright colors, and black outlines.
Third graders from Mrs. Platt's Union East Elementary School class are learning about Keith Haring and how his figures showed movement and spontaneity. During this lesson, students put colorful cut up straws on pipe cleaners and manipulated the pipe cleaners to create a figure in motion.
The Warriors Unified Basketball team recently traveled to St Bonaventure to cheer on Cheektowaga's own basketball superstar, Dominick Welch and to be recognized for being New York state's selection to compete at the USA games for Unified Basketball. The team was invited to center court during the first tv timeout to be recognized. The PA announcer introduced the team and helped spread the word about inclusion and about the USA games this upcoming June.
CCMS fifth grade science students Students went to the High School Courtyard to observe the same plant and tree from the beginning of the school year. Students took pictures, wrote characteristics, and compared/contrasted the changes due to winter digitally in Book Creator.
Mrs Hoadley’s Union East Elementary School kindergarteners were action researchers! They watched a pilot episode of a new reading based show and provided their feedback.
CCMS fifth grade students in Mrs. MacVittie/Mrs. Sass’ Reading Class had the opportunity to visit the library. Students learned from Mrs. Goodwin how to customize their search for a just right book of choice to use as we immerse into test taking reading strategies!
