Doug Bedell
April 5, 1964 - November 15, 2024
Douglas Jay Bedell, age 60, of Cheboygan, died at home unexpectedly on Friday November 15, 2024. The son of Henry Bedell and Ruth Naylor, Doug was born in Grand Rapids on April 5, 1964. He moved to Northern Michigan when he was fourteen years old and graduated from Cheboygan High School in the Class of 1982. He married his longtime companion, best friend, and the love of his life, Lisa Auger, on December 20, 2007 in Rogers City.
After high school Doug worked as a bartender for his dad at Hammerin’ Hank's Tavern in Cheboygan before apprenticing as a carpet installer. He eventually went to work for himself installing carpet throughout Northern Michigan and subcontracting through Johnsons’ Home Decorating Center. Hardworking and meticulous, Doug was known for doing an excellent job on his installations. He was a member of the Cheboygan Moose Lodge.
Doug was a “hot rod” enthusiast who loved watching NASCAR and going to the US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin to watch drag racing. He had an appreciation for fast cars with his 1973 Ford Mustang being his pride and joy. As a younger man, Doug enjoyed deer hunting and the outdoors. He enjoyed listening to seventy’s and eighty’s rock music and was always up for a trip to the casino to play the slots.
Doug had a bit of a stubborn streak and did things his way. Once his mind was made up, it took a lot of convincing for him to change it. And though he always said what was on his mind, never sugarcoating anything, Doug had a gentle heart full of love and respect for his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Lisa; mother, Ruth Naylor; brothers, Patrick (Lisa) Bedell, Darin (Becky) Bedell, and Rich Ignasiak, all of Cheboygan; sister, Barb (Kevin) Woodcock of Indian River; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Hank Bedell and stepmother, Barbara VanEckhardt.
Cremation has taken place. Doug will be honored by his family privately. Those planning an expression of sympathy please consider a donation in memory of Doug to his family to help with final and medical expenses.

Rest in peace.

RIP Classmate
Laura Ann (Baker) Everingham

March 3, 1963 – August 29, 2022 (age 59)

Laura passed away unexpectedly, doing what she loved, at a loading dock near Dallas, Texas.

She was born in Battle Creek, MI to Mary and the late Charles (CB) Baker and spent her early years being an Air Force brat, living in the Philippines at Clark AF base, the Soo, Copper City and Centennial Heights in the Keweenaw, Oscoda then Cheboygan. She graduated from CHS in 1982, just having attended her 40th class reunion.

She attended DeVry University in Naperville, IL then completed her bachelors as a CPA thru NCMC. She was at various CPA jobs before fulfilling her dream in 2008 of being a truck driver. She was with Schneider in 2011 then Sweet Express out of Grand Rapids since 2016.

Laura always loved horses, visiting neighbors horses growing up to finally owning her own. She finally found her dream home in Cheboygan and was planning her retirement.

THANK YOU to all of you that came to the bonfire Fri night and the party Sat night. It was great to see you. So glad we had both since there is so much catching up to do!
I would like to thank Dawn Sova and Ann (Swiderick) Kiefer Bob Kiefer for sticking with me for every reunion since the very first one! I failed to mention that Saturday night! They were a huge part of organizing this one.
I also had a lot of help from Tammy Swenson Braum to get things researched and planned, Julie Burnett for her creativity as we talked about with the banner and table decorations. She also made the cupcakes. Melissa Fish for bringing in help for the party and dishes we needed. Melissa, Dawn, and Ann trying to make sense of some of the leftover food. Rose Berden Manjarres for helping to research and finding people.
And thanks to my bestie Deanna Alcock Oakes for running with me all day Friday and Saturday to finish things up, and finishing up Saturday night.! And thanks Kathy Carlson and Al Carlson and Jamey Braley for being there to help finish up the final clean up.
Thanks to Ton Williams for being patient and making all the copies I needed (for free)
I know a few more helped so THANK YOU!!
It certainly takes a team!!

Maybe get a hold of ME in 4 or 9 years and get me your information for the next one 😊 That would help SO MUCH!!

Until next time… take care of yourselves ❤️

Well, we are losers for the 4 tickets but they gave him one Mega Millions which draws on Tue, so there is still hope!
