Last Friday, Chattaroy students and staff had the special opportunity to welcome local author and Riverside parent, Mrs. Watt, as she shared her upcoming book, Full Hands: The Story of Chaotic Calum.

Not only did Mrs. Watt bring the story to life with a reading, but her daughter Leslie—and Calum himself—joined in the fun! Afterward, students enjoyed learning about the writing process and discovering just how much of the story is based on real experiences.

Last week, Chattaroy students had a very special visitor all the way from Ireland! Principal Cross’ distant cousin, the one and only Paddy O’Cross, stopped by to celebrate students who have shown outstanding commitment to attendance at school.

And Paddy didn’t come empty-handed…

With a burst of excitement, he fired off his famous Clover Cannon right in the classroom, sending clovers flying everywhere! Students eagerly searched high and low, hoping to find the rare and lucky 4-leaf clover.

A few lucky students struck gold—literally! Those who discovered a 4-leaf clover were rewarded with a special Irish relic: a gold coin made of pure chocolate! But in the spirit of celebration (and because we believe showing up matters!), we decided that every student who participated, even those who found a 3-leaf clover, deserved a sweet reward too.

Because at Chattaroy, we know that attendance is more than just being present, it’s the key to staying engaged, keeping up with learning, and being part of all the amazing things happening in the classroom each day.

We’re proud of our students for showing up, putting in the effort, and making learning a priority. Keep it up, you never know when a little luck (or chocolate!) might come your way!

Yesterday, our 1st grade classrooms had some very special visitors from Riverside High School’s FFA Club!

Our high school students taught our 1st graders all about the meaning of agriculture and introduced them to FFA. They shared why agriculture is so important and how FFA helps students grow as leaders and learners.

The fun didn’t stop there! The FFA members led a hands-on activity where each 1st grader learned about the stages of a seed. Every student got to pick out a flower seed and plant it in their very own pot to take home. They wrapped up the lesson with an informative coloring sheet that gave a visual representation of the stages a seed goes through before blooming into a beautiful flower.

Thank you, RHS FFA Club, for such a fun and educational experience. We had a blast!

On Tuesday, our Chattaroy 3rd & 4th graders took downtown Spokane by storm! They caught Newsies at the beautiful Bing Crosby Theatre, then refueled with lunch at the Montvale Event Center.

Historic Spokane showed off its charm, and Newsies delivered big lessons on justice, courage, unity—and standing up for what’s right. Not bad for a Tuesday field trip!
