The Barton Program is a tutoring system designed for children, teenagers, or adults who struggle with spelling, reading, and writing due to dyslexia. It is based on Orton-Gillingham Approach, a structured language approach designed by a neurologist and an educator in the 1930's. d from two sources: first from a body of time-tested knowledge and practice that has been validated over the past 80 years, and second from scientific evidence about how persons learn to read and write; why a significant number have difficulty in doing so; how dyslexia makes achieving literacy skills more difficult; and which instructional practices are best suited for teaching such persons to read and write. The system is a multi-sensory, direct, explicit, structured and sequential program designed for intense intervention.
