Last year's weather was miserable. This year was slightly less miserable. But when it started to rain for the second time about half way through the race, I was really amazed by those that could manage a smile!

Entering the gorge after going around Moccasin Bend creates a funnel effect. And then the scenery reminds me why I moved to Chattanooga and why events like Chattajack 31 Mile SUP/Kayak Race 2018 Chattajack 31 are so important to help raise awareness and funds to preserve this great resource.

This is my 4th year shooting the Chattajack 31 Mile SUP/Kayak Race 2018. Each year, I wonder why nearly everyone paddles so hard at the start of the race. It's a 31+ mile race. Is it important to be at the front in the first 1/10 mile or is it the adrenaline or the cold or the fear of getting run over that causes most to sprint when the gun fires? It's spectacular to watch in any case.
