The other day, my husband made me so mad. I mean mad. I was completely beside myself. 😡

Maybe you’ve been there too? 😖

I was outside mowing the yard when I started pouring my heart out to God—praying honestly about everything I was feeling and struggling to understand. Out loud.

Somewhere in that moment, I let my anger rise to Him instead of holding onto it myself. And honestly, it changed me. By the time I talked with my husband later, my heart posture was softer, calmer, and more grounded. Only God…

God can handle our emotions. He already knows our hearts, and He understands us more deeply than we even understand ourselves.

Today, we remember.

We honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country — those who laid down everything so others could live in freedom. Their sacrifice is not lost on us.

As we gather with family, enjoy the slower moments, and celebrate the gift of freedom, may we also pause with gratitude and humility.

At You Are Soaring, we believe courage, sacrifice, and love for others reflect the heart of God so deeply. Today we remember the people who lived that out so selflessly.

Praying peace and comfort over every family carrying loss today. ❤️🤍💙

What a privilege it is to walk with these women and teach them how much God loves them and has given them worth no one can shake!

So often, we try to disconnect from our emotions—as if feeling deeply is weakness, failure, or something to overcome.
But emotions were never meant to separate us from God.

They can actually draw us closer to Him.

Scripture reminds us that God is not distant or emotionless. He is gracious, merciful, patient, compassionate, and full of steadfast love. Because we are made in His image, our emotions are not something to fear or ignore—they are invitations to become aware, reflect, connect, and heal.
When we slow down long enough to understand what we’re feeling instead of running from it, we create space for God to meet us there.

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” Psalm 145:8

Doing our own emotional work matters.

When we slow down and understand what we’re feeling, instead of stuffing it or reacting from it, we create space within ourselves.

We build the capacity to listen well, love deeply, and be fully present for the people God places in front of us.

We gain the ability to sit with someone in heartbreak.
To celebrate with someone in joy. To respond with intention instead of reacting from our own unhealed places.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer isn’t advice—it’s presence.

The dishes can wait.

When we do our own healing, we make room to carry and love others well.

This is the model for us as well: feel → pause → pray → respond.

When emotions rise, our instinct is often to fix, defend, or react quickly. But Jesus shows us a different way—slow down long enough to be with God before we respond.

Because emotions, if left unchecked, can shape our decisions and reinforce beliefs that aren’t fully true. We can overthink, withdraw, assume, or react in ways that don’t reflect who we really are.

But when we pause and bring what we feel before God, clarity begins to replace confusion, and peace replaces reactivity.

Emotions don’t have to drive us. They can become signals—inviting us to growth, healing, and wisdom—when we let God lead the process.

Emotions connect us—to ourselves, to others, and to God.

They don’t come from nowhere. They’ve been shaped by our experiences, our relationships, and the stories we’ve come to believe.

Learning to understand them starts with awareness—
noticing what triggers them, naming what we feel, and slowing down long enough to respond instead of react.

This is where clarity begins.
This is where change begins.

Take a moment today to notice what you’re feeling… and what might be beneath it.

Good things take time! Don’t get discouraged on the journey, the fruits will show in the right time☺️

Shame isn’t the end of your story—it’s an invitation.

In the book we’re writing, we talk about how shame isn’t something to run from, but something to gently pay attention to. It’s often pointing to a deeper place that needs care, truth, and healing.

Not hiding. Not numbing. Not avoiding.
But slowing down long enough to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Our emotions don’t have the final say, they don’t determine our value, but they can serve us if we steward them well.

For the month of May, we plan to share more on how our emotions can play a huge role in shaping our relationship with our self, with others, and with God.
