Chattanooga State Tiger Access

A few of our returning and new Tiger Access students gathered today for our May Summer of Learning and Fun session!

Students renewed and/or received their student IDs, then successfully navigated the CARTA routes as we traveled to the Orange Grove Center. While there, students met our two Orange Grove Center instructors, enjoyed lunch together, and toured the facility.

After a great visit, we boarded CARTA once again for our trip back to campus. We are looking forward to our June session visiting the local fire department and July session visiting our community’s library. It’ll be filled with learning, growth, independence, and fun!

🏅 Lillian, Jack, Alisha, and Meli — our Unified Bocce team — brought home silver medals!

🏃‍♂️ Lucas and Darnell earned silver medals in the 100-Meter Run and also brought home bronze medals in Mini Javelin!

🏓 Vivian and LaChic — one of our Unified Pickleball teams — earned bronze medals!

🥈 Mikaela and Mason — our other Unified Pickleball team — were silver medalists!

💪 Silas dominated in Powerlifting, earning THREE gold medals in:
• Bench Press
• Dead Lift
• Combined Score

We are beyond proud of our ChattState team for their hard work, determination, sportsmanship, and heart. Congratulations to every athlete and partner who competed at Special Olympics State Games!

What a great first day at Special Olympics State Games!

Lucas and Darnell represented ChattState well in track and field, earning silver medals in the 100-meter run and bronze medals in the mini javelin event.

In Bocce doubles competition, Alisha and Lillian finished in 4th place, while Jack and Meli brought home bronze medals.

Our unified pickleball teams will compete in playoff rounds tomorrow, and our powerlifter takes the stage for competition tomorrow as well.

After a full day of competition and accomplishments, everyone enjoyed celebrating together at the dance. We are so proud of all of our athletes and partners for their hard work, sportsmanship, and determination!

Special Olympics athletes and partners from Chattanooga State Community College met up on campus today to begin their journey to the Special Olympics State Games!

The group enjoyed lunch together at The Mountain Goat Market before continuing their trek to Lipscomb University to check into the dorms and attend opening ceremonies.

Tomorrow will be a busy and exciting day as athletes participate in Healthy Athletes screenings and begin competing in their sports. ChattState is proudly representing with:

* 2 Unified Pickleball teams
* 1 Unified Track pair
* 1 Unified Bocce team
* 1 Powerlifter

What a fun night! Two of our students took the stage at the Theatre Department Showcase. We just love the arts and how they create opportunities for our students to shine, build confidence, and share their talents with the community. Moments like these show what it means to be truly immersed in every part of college life.
