The preschool held their end-of-year celebration for rising kindergarteners on Tuesday. Students received character awards and also the gift of a children's Bible. We can't believe how much these littles have grown in just a year! Now on to kindergarten!

Yesterday, our kindergarten classes celebrated the end of the year in two special ceremonies. Students sang, recited verses, received character awards from their teachers, and delivered a yellow rose to their families. It has been a great year for these sweet littles, and they are ready for first grade!

The Fifth Grade Tribute was held on Monday, a special ceremony to mark the milestone of students completing elementary school. Several students were awarded plaque awards for diligence/scholarship, leadership, character, and service; and every student received a character award from their homeroom teacher. Students recited an entire memorized passage from the book of James, teachers shared a few favorite memories and thoughts, and Mrs. Thompson shared some last words of wisdom with parents. We are excited for this great group of students who are now officially middle schoolers!

Making a global impact, one fundraiser at a time!
The Great Commission Collective (formerly Interact Club) is excited to share that we raised $800 for water filters through our Lego Minifigs fundraiser during Creation Celebration 2025 and Flag Football’s World Water Day fundraiser!
These water filters will be donated to Precious Zawadi Academy in Kenya and delivered by Mrs. Ioannidis and a short-term missions team compiled by Silverdale Baptist Church and AMG International this July. Precious Zawadi Academy is a Christian school with which our Academy is forming a mentoring partnership. These water filters will provide access to clean water, but they will also serve as a way to share the hope of the Gospel and tangibly demonstrate the love of Christ.
We are grateful for every student, family, and supporter who helped make this possible. Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to live out the Great Commission by serving others both locally and globally.

Congratulations to Tabitha DeMoss and Kaytee Parilla, members of the newly graduated Silverdale Class of 2026, who have both received the highly competitive national Army ROTC scholarship, which will pay for their college education. Many thousands apply every year with only 3,000 receiving a scholarship, scored in three categories: scholar, leader, and athlete.
Both Kaytee and Tabitha are students who were involved in our Arts department; Kaytee is going to Carson-Newman University in the fall and Tabitha is beginning at UTC. They will both serve in the Army upon graduation. Theater teacher Mr. Jared Eddy, who serves in the Army Reserves, encouraged both of these outstanding students to apply. Congratulations Tabitha and Kaytee! We are so proud of you!

We are proud to announce that Silverdale Baptist Academy’s Writing Center has received the CARE Certification from the Southeastern Writing Center Association (SWCA)!
This recognition celebrates the outstanding work happening inside our Writing Center and the student leaders who make it a place for collaboration, encouragement, and growth in writing.
In its award letter, the review committee praised the Writing Center’s “clear mission,” “writing-to-learn philosophy,” and the strong culture of student engagement fostered through the center.
A special congratulations to Dr. Sarah Johnson, Writing Center Director, and this year’s student leadership team for the incredible work they have invested in building a Writing Center that serves and encourages fellow student writers so well.

Preschoolers had an Alphabet Parade last week, dressing as something related to a letter of the alphabet, everything from an ant to Zorro! There were astronauts, ballerinas, baseball players, coaches, car racers, the Queen of Hearts, and a pretty adorable manatee just to name a few. Other classes cheered them on including some of this year's kindergarteners!

Eighth Grade Chapel was held last week, a special ceremony to celebrate the end of middle school. Student leaders in eighth grade help plan the ceremony each year which includes devotionals given by students, worship music led by two student worship leaders, and the awarding of eighth grade superlatives. This year it also included a video done by the 8th grade drama class and a video parody done by the eighth grade teachers, both of which provided some humor! It was a sweet time as these eighth graders prepare to move on to high school next year.
