Our first-grade scholars have been learning all about the human body and ways to keep their bodies healthy and protected from germs!

Through hands-on learning and classroom activities, our scholars are discovering how their bodies work while learning healthy habits that can help prevent the spread of germs. 🧼👐✨

On August 26, Ms. Christensen, our 8th Grade Social Studies teacher, received a very special surprise when WDEF News 12 visited her classroom to present her with the Golden Apple Award!

The Golden Apple Award recognizes outstanding educators for their exceptional work in the classroom and their passionate leadership in preparing and educating the next generation.

Ms. Christensen’s dedication to her scholars and commitment to making learning meaningful and engaging make this recognition well deserved. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of the CCSE family!

❤️💙 Congratulations, Mr. Erick Swallows! 💙❤️

Chattanooga Charter School of Excellence High is proud to recognize Mr. Erick Swallows, Science/CTE Department Head, as our August Teacher of the Month!

Mr. Swallows is a dedicated educator who teaches Computer Science and STEM, inspiring our scholars to explore, create, problem-solve, and think beyond the classroom. His commitment to innovation extends beyond instruction as he proudly coaches our Archery Team and leads our Green Prix Car program, providing scholars with hands-on opportunities to develop teamwork, engineering, creativity, and perseverance.

Mr. Swallows also plays an important role in helping lead our NEST Program for new teachers at CCSE, supporting and mentoring educators as they begin their journey with our school community.

More than a teacher, Mr. Swallows is a true mentor, leader, and champion for both scholars and his fellow educators. His willingness to share his knowledge, support his peers, and continually look for ways to help others succeed exemplifies the Heart of an Eagle.

🔬🦉🦅 HANDS-ON BIOLOGY AT CCSE-H! ❤️🤍💙

Our CCSE-H Biology scholars put their scientific investigation skills to work by dissecting barn owl pellets and identifying the bones and other remains they discovered. Using their findings, scholars worked like real scientists to determine what the owl had eaten for its last meal!

This hands-on lab gave our Eagles an opportunity to explore food chains, predator-prey relationships, anatomy, and ecosystems while practicing observation, identification, and critical-thinking skills.

Science comes alive when our scholars can investigate, discover, and draw conclusions from real evidence! 🔎🦴

Our Eagles celebrated with an August Music & Popsicle Party! 🎉

This special PBIS celebration recognized scholars who demonstrated excellence throughout August by:

⭐ Maintaining perfect attendance
⭐ Receiving no Behavioral Specialist referrals
⭐ Receiving no administrative referrals

We are proud of our scholars for showing up, making positive choices, and demonstrating what it means to SOAR like an Eagle! 🦅

🦈🎓🦅 SHARK TANK: CHARTER SCHOOL EDITION! ❤️🤍💙

Our CCSE-H Teaching as a Profession scholars dressed for success and stepped into the Shark Tank to pitch their very own new charter school concepts!

Scholars did an amazing job presenting key components of their proposed schools, including application and enrollment procedures, funding, academic focus and supports, and enrichment programs.

This project challenged our Eagles to think like educators, school leaders, and innovators while strengthening their research, planning, communication, and presentation skills.

We are proud of the professionalism, creativity, and preparation our scholars demonstrated! Future educators and leaders are SOARing at CCSE-H! 🦅📚
