Had a special visit today from Capt. D! 🧯🔥
My favorite part of my job is getting to meet other female firefighters from around the country. Women like who after meeting just one time had an instant connection with that I can call on for support, advice, go on girls trips with, or to plan a quick meet up with as she’s driving through town.
A fellow mom, and female firefighter who supports other women in life and especially in our line of work. So happy to have women like her in my corner, just wish we didn’t live so far apart.
Having the opportunity to meet other female firefighters that have walked through this life and I can relate to, connect with, and learn from at the conference, is a game changer! Looking forward to attending again this September.
Today’s visit was short, but always good to see a friend! Thanks for stopping by Diana, made my day. 😘

Attention ADHD-ers…
It’s not them, it’s us. But it’s more in your head than you think it is.
I first heard about this syndrome in the s podcast & again in her book (both with the same title): ADHD for Smart Ass Women.
Understanding this concept has saved me from 🌀 spiraling into negative thoughts 💭 about the whys I have when it comes to friendships, missed invites, and more.

My plate is always full and yet, I’m always adding more to it (like buying more plants 🪴 and art projects). It’s a vicious cycle. 🔁 To help, I make a list 📝 of EVERYTHING that needs to get done and then I number the list. I do this for daily, weekly, monthly and yearly items.
Thankfully, my husband grounds me (not like a parent, but like an anchor ⚓️ to my boat at 🌊 sea), and reminds me to not take on more than I can handle. This doesn’t always work, especially when a huge part of who I am involves helping others 🫱🏽🫲🏼and I find joy in that so I join committees and attend events to fill that 👒 need.
Needless to say, having ADHD is a blessing and a curse, depends on the day 🤪and who you ask, but knowing why this 🧠 of mine works the way it does, gives me ✌🏼 and understanding.

2 reasons y’all should be focused on lifting:
1. MUSCLE BURNS FAT. Excess fat leads to increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer… need I say more?
2. Muscles protect your bones. As we age, we are prone to falls and injury. Having strong bodies helps prevent these things. Lifting little weights helps a little, but if you LIFT HEAVY, you’re going to set yourself up for success.
Please stop setting the bar low for yourself and working out for weight loss. Skinny isn’t in (that’s so 90s). Do yourself a favor and lift the weights for better overall health. Your future self will thank you for that.
