Congratulations, Mr. Carrasco!

STEM School Chattanooga is excited to celebrate Mr. Kyle Carrasco, a STEM School teacher, who has been promoted to serve as the Assistant Principal at East Brainerd Elementary School.

During his time at STEM, Mr. Carrasco made a lasting impact on our students, staff, and school community. Through his leadership in STEM IV, Inventanooga, Government/Economics, digital fabrication, and Socratic seminars, he helped students think deeply, communicate clearly, and take real-world ideas from concept to action.

His work with Inventanooga expanded opportunities for students to connect with community partners, UTC, and expert panels who pushed their thinking and helped them grow. Our students left STEM IV better prepared to take on the world, better understand how to solve real-world problems, and better equipped to create sustainable ideas and businesses that make a difference.

While STEM will certainly miss Mr. Carrasco, we are proud to see him continue to grow as a leader in Hamilton County Schools. East Brainerd Elementary is gaining an educator who brings passion, creativity, high expectations, and a deep commitment to students.

Love is all around at East Brainerd Elementary! We’ve been serving up gratitude - and meals - to the teachers and staff this week. Teachers have also been proudly displaying all the poems, drawings, and cards given to them by students. Just check out Mr.Keller’s door (pictured)!

A huge thank you to Ms. Owensby and Ms. Lee who have been planning this Teacher Appreciation week for months and organized prize giveaways for each day. Also, thank you to all the PTA volunteers who have showed up to serve (and the ones that are coming later in the week). We are only as good as our volunteers and we have the best around!

Thank you, Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp for visiting EBE today! Our 3rd graders asked some tough questions, including the hardest part about being mayor, what inspired him to become an elected official, and what his vision is for Hamilton County. A highlight was when asked what kids like ours could do to improve our county, Mayor Wamp encouraged our students to be people who think about the needs of others, and that would take them far in life.
