It’s not unusual to see Ms. Marika with a class full of first and second graders excitedly picking up trash in the community. Why, you might ask?

Societal Responsibility is one of our 6 school wide values. We aim to instill a sense of civic duty and environmental stewardship, and encourage students to understand and address societal issues. We believe there are opportunities to learn from current events in our broader world, but also a responsibility to care for our immediate one.

Join us in congratulating Nicole Bettis on her recent graduation from the AMS Curriculum Coaching Academy.

The Academy was created for educators wanting to expand their leadership and focused on 5 key areas: Montessori philosophy, child development, Montessori curriculum, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), as well as the art of Montessori coaching.

Graduates developed skills and resources to serve as inspiring curriculum coaches and coordinators to support colleagues, strengthen classroom practice, and ensure alignment with Montessori principles.

Nicole is already an invaluable member of our staff but her continued commitment to learning makes us all the more lucky to have her!

The countdown begins. Clubs are coming!

If you signed up for any of our fall clubs, you should have received an email today confirming your student’s registration and providing more details.

If you missed the first round of sign ups and are still interested, there are limited spots still available in Ultimate Frisbee (2nd - Middle School), Mahjong Club (2nd - Middle School) and Nature Explorers (ages 7-12).

Where there are co - chairs, there will be community engagement.

This week marked the first quarterly meeting of co-chairs who are working to bolster Terra’s Family & Community Engagement opportunities. Be on the lookout for dances, neurodivergent & People of Color connection groups, an art show, a school-wide composting program, yearbook, and much much more.

Week one is under our belts! And what a beautiful week it was.

The first few weeks back can come with lots of emotions as learners (and adults) find their rhythm, settle in, and adjust to the new school year. But we also watched as this week unfolded with such positive energy:

- friends reunited
- parents offering a helping hand
- seniors sharing hopes for a fantastic final year
- staff (and even their children) helping carpool to run like clockwork
- learners who seem to have grown 6 inches this summer
- brave littles who started school for the first time

Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for your smiling faces! And yay for 2 days off 😉

Nature Explorers is a new exciting outdoor and environmental after-school program designed for kids who love adventure and the great outdoors! Through hands-on activities like hiking, wildlife observation, and nature crafts, children will explore local forests and trails while learning about ecology, conservation, and teamwork. Each program encourages curiosity, builds confidence, and inspires a lifelong appreciation for nature in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
These programs are run by Marika van Brocklin.

Thursdays: Nature Explorers 4-6 years old
