Farm to School connects students to local food, farms, and their community!

Through school meals, nutrition education, school gardens, and hands-on learning, students can discover where their food comes from while supporting Alabama farmers and local communities.

Try Farm to School at your school:

October is Farm to School Month!

Farm to School connects students with local farms through school meals, nutrition education and hands-on learning. It helps young people discover where their food comes from while supporting Alabama farmers and communities.

A Farm to School activity might include tasting a locally grown fruit or vegetable, learning about Alabama agriculture, planting a school garden or meeting a farmer.

Throughout October, we will share simple ways schools, families and communities can help young people explore the journey from farm to table.

Just wrapped up our annual EFNEP conference, and I’m leaving feeling so thankful for this program and the people I get to work alongside. 💚

These few days are always a good reminder of why the work we do matters. I’ve learned so much, made new connections, shared ideas, laughed a lot, and walked away with plenty of things I’m excited to bring back to my classes.

I’m especially thankful for the opportunity to work with the moms, families, and kids in my communities. Getting to teach, encourage, and hopefully make even a small difference in someone’s life is something I don’t take for granted.

Feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to put some of these new ideas to work! 💚
