Our spring session is in full swing! Students got to learn about fruits and veggies in Chinese and also start recognizing and writing some simple Chinese characters!

This week we learned many different types of lines in Chinese (straight lines 直线 zhí xiàn, curvy lines 曲线 qǔ xiàn, zig zag lines 折线 zhé xiàn etc.), and students had a lot of fun using the lines to design their own beautiful art work!

Students were having fun creating their watercolor ark work while practicing counting in Chinese!

This week we learned about the concept of "dot" (点diǎn), and used cotton swabs to create paintings. the cotton swabs are dipped in watercolor paint and printed dots onto the construction paper. The children created flowers, rainbows, raindrops and even houses with these little print marks!

We learned the shape of star this week and made many cute paper stars together. We also had so much fun singing twinkle twinkle little star in Chinese!

The students this week had so much fun learning about the heart shape and also learning to write the Chinese character 爱 (love, ài). The kids created their own beautiful Valentine’s cards using the character 爱 for their family! They were very proud of themselves！ ❤️

We made traditional Lunar New Year lanterns to celebrate the Year of Tiger! Happy Lunar New Year 2022! 新年快乐！xīn nián kuài lè! 🧧🐯🎆

This week our students learned the colors red, yellow and blue (红色hóng sè，黄色huáng sè和蓝色lán sè) and the shape rectangle (长方形cháng fāng xíng) in Chinese. They also learned a rectangle song, and all the kids enjoy singing it over and over again! For this week's project, they had so much fun creating their own master piece inspired by Piet Mondrian's art work using watercolor paint and tape!
