Our head of school, Michelle, has been busy preparing projects and plans for our handwork class at Cove! She's so excited to have the opportunity to work with every child in this unique way.

Why spend time on handwork?

1️⃣ Develops fine motor skills and coordination
2️⃣ Builds concentration and patience
3️⃣ Sparks creativity and problem-solving
4️⃣ Integrates head, heart, and hands
5️⃣ Builds confidence and calm
6️⃣ Offers an opportunity to experience the joy of making something beautiful to treasure or gift

We can't wait to see what our students create this year! ✨

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Cove Classical Academy will be opening this Fall at the former Guardian Angels School in downtown Chaska, located at 217 West 2nd Street. This location is a blessing beyond imagination that will support our high enrollment and future growth.

To help bring the space to life, we staged a few scenes with children and teachers experiencing the joys of literature, art, music, and play. Enjoy this first look at our new building!

It is a great privilege and joy to introduce Scott Watkins as our Academic Dean. Scott has both a B.A. and M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and has taught for over six years at Hope Academy in Minneapolis and for three years as a private homeschool tutor.

In addition to providing support to our classroom teachers, Scott will serve as a great resource in curriculum selection and development, and help to foster a school culture rooted in faith and character formation.

As we continue the work ahead of us to begin the school year, we are especially grateful for the experience and enthusiasm Scott brings. Best said in his own words, Scott sees "every moment in the classroom as more than just a chance to encounter a fact. It is a chance to touch the heart, and to trust in God's grace and sufficiency for each moment."

Justine has been an encouragement to Cove since before we even had a name! We are so pleased to announce that Justine has accepted a position as our Latin Specialist (grades 3 and up), Art Specialist, and Kindergarten Teaching Assistant!

Justine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and has a wealth of experience in the field of education. In addition to homeschooling her four children using a combination of classical and Charlotte Mason approaches, she has taught Latin and Bible in a classroom setting and worked within a school music department.

Not only will Justine bring warmth and expertise to the students within the classroom, but we are also fortunate to have her breadth of experience as a homeschooling parent as a resource to our families.

We are thrilled to share that Claire Carlson has accepted a position as a Classroom Teacher. Claire has a deep sense of calling to work with children in a setting where they can flourish, and her own homeschooling experience included both classical and Charlotte Mason approaches. She loves the hybrid model because it gives families the best of both worlds: rich, structured learning with peers and individualized attention at home.

Claire graduated from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and holds degrees in General Music and Biblical Studies, with minors in English and Special Education. She especially enjoys sharing her love for music, math, reading, art, and nature study with children, including at a local homeschool co-op where she currently teaches group piano lessons. Claire desires to love each child as Christ does and to lead students in the pursuit of truth, beauty, goodness, and virtue in every aspect of their education.

Welcome, Claire! We’re so glad to have you on Team Cove.
