So proud of this amazing group of Sigma Delta Pi students. We welcomed new members into the chapter, celebrated our president, Tara Sury, with the Gabriela Mistral Award for her outstanding service and academic excellence, and ended the night with our traditional meal together. I am truly grateful to work with these students.

On Friday, October 24, the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi initiated 25 new members and conferred an honorary membership on Professor Ana Píriz Moguel. The ceremony was a beautiful celebration that included a live performance by SDP President Tara Sury.
Many thanks to members Charlotte Maggio, Kyleigh Phillips, Dulce Castillo, and Kate Baer, as well as graduate students Elizabeth Mirabal and Carlos Velazco Fernández, for helping make the evening such a success. ¡Enhorabuena a todos! 🇪🇸✨

Big honors for UVA’s Spanish Honor Society!
The Spanish Honor Society (Sigma Delta Pi), Zeta Zeta Chapter at the University of Virginia, was honored nationally with the Ignacio y Sophia Galbis Award as the most exemplary chapter in the country. I was honored to receive the Lucy Lee Award as Advisor of the Year for outstanding leadership, and our chapter was also named an Honor & Merit Chapter, one of only 13 out of 647 nationwide. After 12 years with this chapter, it’s incredibly meaningful to see our students’ passion and dedication recognized on this level; I couldn’t be prouder of them.
