Fall Sports Tryouts & practices start this week. That also means the start of the VHSL Fall Dead Period. Honoring Virginia High School League Dead Periods is part of competing with Sportsmanship, Ethics & Integrity.

Per VHSL guidelines, during Dead Periods, no coaching, observing, or contact between a coach(s) or player(s) may occur in the VHSL member school sponsored athletic team or activity involved. There may be no VHSL member school sponsored practice, open facilities, weight training/conditioning, out of season league(s), or member school sponsored clinics/camps.

Summer workouts in many sports resume next week, and fall sports tryouts/practices are just a month away. Current VHSL Physical forms are required for participation - parents can download forms at www.GoMonticello.org or pick up a hard copy from the Monticello athletics office. Completed forms can be turned in to the Coach, AD, ATC, or emailed (as a PDF attachment) to [email protected].

We are profoundly heartbroken to learn of the passing of Brendan Rose - an incredible teammate, student, friend, and rising senior at Monticello High School. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brendan’s family, teammates, and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.

Behind every jersey - on any team, in any sport - is a human being. The mental health of our student-athletes is of utmost priority. Please remember that it is okay to not be okay. If you are struggling or in distress, you are never alone. Please - check on your teammates, lean on each other, and do not hesitate to ask for help.

Monticello High School's Department of Athletics is excited to share that Luke Davies has been named our new Head Boys Soccer Coach.

Coach Davies brings extensive coaching experience and a strong vision for our program. A three-time Valley District Coach of the Year, Coach Davies most recently was the Head Coach at Turner Ashby High School, leading the Knights to six Region 3C tournament and two VHSL Class 3 State tournament appearances as well as winning the 2024 Valley District championship.

Head-to-head vs. Monticello in Region 3C tournament play, Davies' Turner Ashby team defeated the Mustangs in 2025 while Monticello won in 2023 enroute to a state Final Four appearance.

A US Soccer C Licensed Coach and Arsenal FC fan, Coach Davies is eager to blend his proved track record of competitive success in our region with the outstanding student-athletes and supportive families in our program.

Students and parents are welcome to join on Monday, July 6, 13 and 27 at the stadium field from 5:00-6:30pm for open field soccer play and meet & greet with Coach Davies. To contact Coach Davies, students/parents may connect via Remind or email [email protected].
