Girl Scouts - FREE Swifties Dance Party!
Charlottesville and Albemarle Girl Scouts service unit is hosting a free Swifties dance party on Sunday, February 25 at the Walker Upper Elementary cafeteria. Come anytime between 1pm-5pm. At the event, girls can meet local area Girl Scouts and dance to their favorite songs from Taylor Swift, who herself was a Girl Scout! There will be friendship bracelet making, selfie stations and fun contests as well. Girls and parents can learn more from volunteers at the event about Girl Scouting in our area at every age level and can join for free immediately on site. The PTO will be looking for new officers and members. Lots of ways to help out, let us know if you’re interested.

First day of school today. Hope everyone has a great day.

We hope you have enjoyed a wonderful weekend and are preparing for a great week as well. Below are a few announcements and reminders for our Burley community this week:


Beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 28th; we will be altering our traffic pattern for morning drop off and afternoon pick up behind the school. While our student drop off and pick up has been smooth overall, our bus drivers have at times had trouble entering the rear parking lot when needed. For this reason, we are changing to a clockwise rotation pattern for drop off and pick up. Please give right of way to any busses and vehicles continuing straight when you enter the parking lot and prepare to turn. For visuals, please review this slideshow.




For virtual families, please make sure your students are aware of the slightly altered schedule for Stage 4 learning. Click here for the schedule. We have had some students continuing to use the Stage 3 schedule, which could lead to them missing the beginning of class.




Please remember that on Fridays students can receive extra help from their teachers between 10:30 and 11:00 AM and again between 1:30 and 2:30 PM. They can log into Zoom to work with teachers at this time. This is a great opportunity for students to get support in reaching their learning goals.




Spring Break is next week, from April 5th to April 9th! Please enjoy this time with your families and let us know if you have any questions. Our offices will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM on Monday through Wednesday during Spring Break, but will be closed on the 8th and 9th.
