Fun Friday:
The Best Ways Disney Says Goodbye
The end of the school year feels like one big Disney finale!
Someone is crying.
Someone is pretending not to cry.
There are snacks involved.
And suddenly the room you were ready to escape from in March feels sentimental in May.
So today we’re looking at the Disney goodbyes that say it best:
✨ See ya real soon
✨ Ta ta for now
✨ So long, partner
✨ You’ve got a friend in me
Because counselor goodbyes are never just goodbyes.
They are reminders that our students were seen, supported, and sent forward with love.

Sometimes the smallest moments are the most magical. In my latest post, I share the quiet, touching Flag Retreat Ceremony at Magic Kingdom, a reminder to slow down and soak in the little Disney moments that stay with you. Pictured is my late father, Soupy Campbell, at the Vietnam Memorial, during his Honor Flight in 2016.

The Quiet Magic of Disney’s Flag Retreat Ceremony
I love the big Disney moments as much as anyone. The fireworks. The first walk down Main Street. The music that somehow makes you emotional before you even realize what is happening. But sometimes the Disney moments that stick with me the most are the quiet ones. These are the ones you can miss if you....

Cue the end credits… we made it. 🎬
The school year is wrapping up, the countdown is real, and everyone is running on coffee, field day schedules, testing leftovers, and “please just make it to dismissal” energy.
For this week’s Fun Friday, we’re creating a School Year Highlight Reel, a simple, joyful way to help students look back on their big wins, funny moments, plot twists, and the people who helped them along the way.
Because even the messy years have moments worth celebrating.

Can I tell you about my favorite end-of-year lesson?
By this point every year, kids are counting down the days. And I get it. We all are.
But before they walk out that door for summer, I want them to stop for just a second and actually SEE how far they have come.
So we pack a suitcase.
Not for Disney World —honestly, that would be amazing—but for next year. For the journey ahead.
Each pocket on their reflection sheet holds something important:
Something I learned about myself
One hard thing I handled
One strategy I want to keep
One person who helped me
One goal for next year
And then we close by saying it together out loud:
“I did hard things this year. I learned something about myself. And I am taking it with me.”
Save this if you need an end-of-year lesson that actually means something. The full Pack Your Bags lesson, complete with a counselor script, reflection sheet, discussion prompts, and an exit ticket, is linked in the bio.
Which pocket do YOU think would be hardest for your students to fill? Drop it in the comments.

Your students have a Luke. A Leía. A Han. A Chewie. This lesson helps them figure out which one they are and why their crew needs ALL of them. New resources live!
