Finding time to visit campus and figure out your next steps can be tough. This semester PVCC is making it a little easier and convenient. Information Sessions are now offered on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, with both afternoon and evening options.

PVCC employees joined 2,300+ other volunteers in greater Charlottesville to give back to the community and lend a hand to nonprofits and organizations doing important work across the region as part of the United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring.

The teams pitched in for the Rivanna Conservation Alliance to help clean up litter on the Rivanna River, joined the Cultivate Charlottesville's Urban Agriculture Collective (UAC) to w**d and harvest, helped tidy up and organize the art room at Camp Holiday Trails and worked alongside a crew from State Farm in PVCC's very own community garden.

Thank you to United Way of Greater Charlottesville and the sponsors whose support has helped make the 2026 Day of Caring possible and thanks to everyone who spent part of the day making a difference.

Happy National GED® Day!

If you or someone you know has been thinking about going back to school to get a GED®, perhaps Carolyn Pate's story will inspire you.

Carolyn dropped out of high school after the death of a family member and over a decade later she conquered her fears and earned her GED® through TJACE@PVCC. Now she is pursuing a credential as a Phlebotomy Technician.

"I know that it can seem intimidating, or even impossible, but we are really our own worst critic's. Don't hold yourself back, you are more capable than you realize. If you put your mind to something and really want it, you can do it. So do it. There are people out there who want to help you, if you will let them."

For National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week we are spotlighting students who had their start at Thomas Jefferson Adult Career Education (TJACE) at PVCC. First up is Sarah. Sarah earned her GED® last year and is now enrolled full-time to earn her associate's degree in the hopes of maybe becoming a teacher.

Sarah shares, "I think TJACE@PVCC helped me reach my goals by providing an understanding and safe space to learn. Without Rebecca Payton and my teachers at TJACE@PVCC I don’t think I would’ve been able to finish my GED® certificate."

Today, PVCC pauses to remember all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years later, the courage and sacrifice of first responders and the resilience of survivors, families and communities continues to inspire the world. We honor those who passed and reflect on the unity that emerged in the face of tragedy. We will never forget.
