Boys & Girls Club Cherry Avenue

Thanks to The Nature Conservancy Virginia for giving cool new bikes to these lucky members! The kids will be outside exploring nature soon on their sweet new rigs! 🚴‍♀️🚴🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Devin did Cherry proud today, representing the Club on the Youth of the Year trip to Triple C Camp's ropes course. He and the other YOYs worked together and motivated each other through challenges, using those YOY leadership and communication skills! Proud of you, Devin!

The teens kicked off Spring Break with a trip to Washington DC. Their destination? Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Kobe's jersey and Shaq's shoes were some of the favorite items on display, and they loved the Musical Crossroads exhibit where they got to listen the music of Black artists who shaped our culture and influenced the music we listen to today.
Plus 19 teens rode the Metro for the first time! 🚈

It seems safe to say that these Cherry Avenue teens are pretty proud of their TPC, Destini for being named October's Employee Recognition Program honoree!
Destini is new in her role and has hit the ground running, sprucing up the teen side at the Club and helping teen staff stay on course with programming their members love.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our BGCCVA Teens Give Back bake sale yesterday. We completely sold out of all of our treats!
We'll be back next Wednesday with even more options to choose from - all to support the Salvation Army's work fighting hunger in our community.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5!

Teen leaders at all six Clubs have just kicked off BGCCVA Teens Give Back, an organization-wide service project. The teens met last month and decided to focus their work on addressing hunger and food insecurity in their respective communities.

Now it's your chance to get involved! Cherry Avenue teens are hosting a BAKE SALE to benefit the Salvation Army. Stop by Cherry Avenue between 4:00 and 6:00 this Wednesday, purchase a sweet treat, and support the teens in their service project!
