Professor Martin Block was the keynote speaker at the recent Special Olympics European Sports Conference in Larnaca, Cyprus. His presentation, Pairing Community Sports and Special Olympics, explored how Special Olympics and community sports programs can collaborate to create more opportunities for athletes with disabilities to play and compete in sports they love.

UVA researchers find weight-loss drugs don’t substantially improve fitness
More studies are needed, but patients should consider adding exercise and ensure adequate protein intake to maximize the benefits, researchers said.

We had a fantastic time at the American College of Sports Medicine’s 2025 Conference! Our students, faculty, and staff enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues, forming new professional relationships, and showcasing their research. It was exciting to explore current studies, exchange ideas for future projects, and discover innovative technologies driving the field forward.
