These two concepts are not mutually exclusive and I really think fit my style ethos.

My personal style is maximalist in expression, but minimalist in how I think about consumption. I want a wardrobe filled with pieces I genuinely love, that work together, and that feel like me.

Much of what I own was purchased secondhand which allows for creativity and fun without giving in to fast fashion.

I remember in the early days of Instagram, people used to comment how everyone suddenly became a photographer overnight. And in some ways, we did. Not that we had any technical training, we just started posting whatever was on our camera roll.

In the same vein, I feel the same way about fashion/style on this app. It seems like everyone is a fashion expert these days. And don’t get me wrong, I’m all about women sharing what makes them feel confident. What I don’t love is the constant consumerism and being sold to. As someone who has always loved fashion and sartorial expression, I find it challenging to find accounts that share what they’re wearing simply for the joy of it.

Anytime you start to grow a following on social media, the first question people will ask is, “How are you going to monetize?” I’ve tried really hard to maintain a balance of paid content and style tips. And in fairness, I make very little income from social media. Not knocking anyone who makes a living doing content full-time - I think it’s given (women especially) a way to be financially independent.

Nothing will put your life into perspective as quickly as the possibility of losing someone you love. As I mentioned before, this experience was a hard reset for us as a family. I’m immensely grateful that he’s ok, but it has left me a tad bit scarred. Often, we take the people closest to us for granted, especially partners.

I’ll get back to regularly scheduled style content and programming; but for now, I’m practicing gratitude. ✨🙏

As someone who practically lives in linen all summer long, I’ve learned to embrace the wrinkles. The goal is linen that feels effortless. Linen should look like it’s been worn, loved, and lived in.

What I love about Poète is that a few spritzes help refresh my pieces and smooth the fabric. It’s also a summer travel necessity. After long days of exploring and playing outside with my kids, I love to spray my clothes and hang them to dry so they’ll feel refreshed for another day.

Oh, you know, just another amazing secondhand find. This dress stopped me in my tracks - the colors are so saturated and beautiful. I will be wearing it any and everywhere!

Well, this was an unexpected email to receive.
