Welcome to the Virginia School Boards Association page! Leadership - Advocacy - Support Participation in VSBA initiatives and observances is optional.

Any related materials from the Association are shared as suggested ideas and resources for implementation. Member school boards may choose not to participate locally. The VSBA lobbying efforts are based on positions contained in the VSBA Legislative Positions Handbook that is approved each year by the VSBA Delegate Assembly. Local school boards are not bound to this handbook and can adopt local positions on legislation and policy.

Last week at the Charlottesville High School Awards Night, VSBA Executive Director Gina Patterson recognized Zaharra Colla, a senior attending Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville City Schools, as the recipient of the VSBA Board of Directors Scholarship for the VSBA Central Region! 🌟

Last night, Spotsylvania County Public Schools hosted the 2026 VSBA Northeastern Region Networking Forum! The evening began with a presentation of colors from the Knight Battalion JROTC and a performance by the Freedom Middle School Orchestra. The evening's presentation on Neuroleadership and Built to Deliver Strengthening Policy and Budget Decisions was given by Dr. Antonio Corrales and E. Ted Fujimoto. Congratulations to Titus Er from Fairfax County Public Schools who was recognized as this year's VSBA Northeastern Region Scholarship recipient!

The evening featured a presentation from VSBA President and Washington County School Board Member, Jenny Nichols, on how strong public schools prepare students for a rapidly evolving workforce, along with food prepared by Wise County Career and Technical Center culinary students and special performances from Central High School, Union High School, and a one-act theatre performance by students from Eastside High School.
