Senior spotlights conclude with me, Kayleigh R. ’26, as I have been interning with the Communications team and writing this year’s senior spotlights. I have been at St. Anne’s for three years, and have been involved with the Varsity Volleyball team and Film Club throughout my time.

What I will miss most about St. Anne’s is the opportunity to really explore my interests, being surrounded by people who encourage growth and individuality and getting to know and help impact the type of community we hold. Many valued teachers, classmates, and teammates have helped me gain lessons and memories that will stay with me after graduation.

This fall I plan to attend James Madison University studying Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications. Thank you for the opportunity to do these spotlights, and congratulations to the Class of 2026!

Today’s senior spotlight is Quinn E. ’26, First Team All-Conference and two-time state champion in Track & Field.

My favorite part about St. Anne's is definitely the community aspect. There's not many kids, so you really get to know everybody. And there's so many talented people here — not just athletes, but bright academically and in the arts. There are people from so many different backgrounds. I've met more international students than I ever thought I was going to meet before college.

A common factor is that everybody’s here to do the right thing, get better, and find success. Especially the faculty. Teachers really care about your success. And that goes for helping you get into college, helping you study and prepare for an exam, and producing well-rounded people. Like Mr. Bartholomew. He is my math teacher, but even before I really got to know him, he knew about my running career and would congratulate me. It just goes to show that there are people that you may not really know here that care about you.

My advice for other students is to step outside their comfort zone, try new things, and meet new people, because anything can change at any time. My sport for so long was lacrosse. I had done cross country just to stay in shape and stay conditioned. Eventually, I got to the point where I really enjoyed running, and then an injury happened in lacrosse that I couldn’t control. Junior year, I decided to pour all my effort and energy into cross country, and it ended up leading me to a place where I wanted to be. That place ended up being staying here, and I can't wait to compete at UVA.

I hope people remember me as a friendly presence, somebody they can always rely on, and a stepping stone for underclassmen finding success in the future. When I think about my records and performances in running, I hope that other young faces can look up and think, “okay, this is possible,” and it sets a goal for them. Records are meant to be broken. And that's really what it's all about: training and competing for something bigger than myself, and making an impact now so it'll be able to continue to grow.

Our senior spotlights continue with the editors-in-chief of “The Belfield Banter,” Sebastian L. ’26 and Kate C. ’26 who have spent the year shaping the structure for the future of the student-run newspaper. Our next senior spotlight is Henry Dozier ’26. Having been a part of the St. Anne’s community since preschool, Henry has spent his time deeply engaged both inside and outside the classroom. This year, he was named a Coca-Cola scholar, an honor awarded to just 150 students nationwide.

During his time at St. Anne’s, Henry completed two independent studies, and a capstone on Community Policing Policies in Virginia. He spent his senior internship volunteering at WTJU 91.1, UVA’s Community Radio Station, where he hosted two hours of programming each day.

Reflecting on the senior class, Henry shared “I think people have found what they’re interested in and get really involved and really remain dedicated to that. So I think that’s pretty great that people in our school are so willing to dedicate themselves.”

At graduation, we will be excited to hear from Henry as he is giving the Commencement speech. In the fall, Henry will be attending Yale University this fall, hoping to study environmental or American studies. Congrats!

Alaja G. ’26, today’s Senior Spotlight, can often be found in the arts wing of the Scott Center for Arts & Sciences (SCAS). Painter, muralist, an editor of “PLUM” student magazine, and regular volunteer at places like Twice Is Nice thrift store and the school’s Big Buddies program, we will miss her smile that lights up every room.

Next Friday, June 5, Alaja will become one of the first Saints to earn an Arts Pathway distinction on her diploma. Then it’s off to WashU on a full ride QuestBridge scholarship, where Alaja will be the first member of her family to attend a four-year college.

“I had a lot of support around me,” she told Cville Right Now in a recent interview, “and a lot of encouraging teachers and peers along the process, and my family.” She gives special thanks to Visual Arts Teachers Frank Phillips and Susan Brodie, along with Dining Services Front-of-House Supervisor Matilda Ferguson for being her biggest supporters. Congratulations, Alaja!
