We are Virginia Motorsports at the University of Virginia. Team members gain hands-on, real-world experience and skills.

As the UVA Baja team, we design and build a single-seat, all-terrain sporting vehicle to be taken to Baja SAE competitions. Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organizatio

Last week, in our fourth year competing, Virginia Motorsports took on the FSAE Electric competition in Brooklyn, Michigan for the first time. We breezed through accumulator tech first try - a feat many first year electric teams can only dream of - passed mechanical tech, and put up solid performances in the design and cost events. Unfortunately, an electrical fault prevented us from safely continuing in the competition and participating in dynamic events.

This performance was by no means a failure. This team tackled every challenge it faced head on, and accomplished more in a year than was ever thought possible.

Endless thanks to our sponsors, members, supporters, alumni, and the University of Virginia for supporting us through this season. We'll be back.

With the team officially finishing all events at FSAE Michigan 2023, we would like to share our car and some great features that made us stand out this year.

• 65 lb chassis vs 130 lb from 2022.
• All sub-teams did a complete redesign this academic year.
• Chassis, suspension arms, exhaust, and fuel tank fully welded in house by students.
• Uprights, hubs, brake rotors, runners, and differential mounts CNC machined by students.

More details on competition standing coming soon!
