Welcome back to Grounds for Reunions, Hoos! The genealogy seminar is full, but the Library has a number of other events today, Friday June 3.
From 11 to 1, an open house — drop in and begin at either the reference room on the 4th floor of the Edgar Shannon Library, or the auditorium at Special Collections.
From 2:30 to 4, former student library workers should drop by Shannon Library room 330 (the Seminar Room), for “From the Stacks: A Hands-On Library Memories Lab”—offering alumni the opportunity to reconnect by creating a small personal artifact—and/or contributing to a collective Library memory archive.
And in the 4th floor reference room from 4 to 5, join Cavalier Daily staff and UVA librarians for an alumni reception with a chance to reminisce over historic issues of the Cav Daily.
However you choose to spend the day, welcome back and have fun!

In 2015, a group of academics, publishing and business professionals, and funding agency representatives worked together to establish a set of principles making research data more sharable and easier to access. They defined these as “FAIR”: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Also in 2015, the UVA Library launched LibraData, UVA’s data repository — and since then LibraData and UVA have been following the FAIR principles over a decade of steady growth.
