At UVA Engineering, we're not pursuing diversity for diversity's sake. We're pursuing strategic diversity, and that is diversity to achieve a strategic goal.

Our goal is to be excellent so that we can provide excellent service and value to society. Addressing society's complex challenges will require everyone's talents and perspectives. The vision for UVA Engineering's diversity efforts, led by the Office of Diversity and Engagement, is to harness the strategic value of diversity, inclusion and engagement in UVA Engineering's educational and research programs. We are cultivating an environment in which every person is optimally valued and supported, so our students, faculty and staff can make their best contributions to society. The Office of Diversity and Engagement provides a vision of strategic diversity for the School of Engineering, supports diversity initiatives benefiting the School and University, and seeks external support for diversity research and education. The office also operates the Center for Diversity in Engineering, a student support center. UVA Engineering is proud to be the top public engineering school in the country for women earning engineering degrees, and for four-year graduation rates for all student demographic groups. However, much more work is ahead to ensure we achieve our vision for harnessing the strategic value of diversity, building an environment in which every person is optimally valued and supported, and ensuring that students, faculty and staff are empowered to make outstanding contributions to society.

Hello Everyone,

If you were unable to secure a ticket to see Angela Davis next week, we understand and recognize your disappointment.

General Admission tickets were in very limited supply, as we evenly split the pool to accommodate our VIP List, prioritize the University of Virginia community, and allow access for various groups and organizations across the university, city, and state. As a result, the GA tickets sold out almost immediately this morning.

Our move to the Paramount Theater was in order to increase capacity, as our original space in Old Cabell Hall holds 200 fewer people. We are excited about this partnership, and about hosting an electric, inspiring, and uplifting evening.

For those without tickets, make sure to arrive early on the day of the event as there will be a standby line and we expect some attrition to allow that line to move. At 5:45PM on March 27th, we will void all unclaimed tickets and begin to allow the standby line to enter the Paramount.

We cannot predict how many seats will be available through standby, nor at what time the line will begin to form.

As with all of our events, we will be live streaming via our page and online.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Angela Davis and the Excellence Through Diversity Distinguished Learning Series!

The Distinguished Learning Series affirms UVA Engineering's core value of excellence through diversity with a year-long speaker series from September through March. All events are free and open to the public.

Maximum 2 tickets per order

If you are unable to get tickets, we will be opening for standby seating at 5:45PM on the evening of the event. So arrive early to secure a spot!

We are officially *sold out* of tickets so if you have them reserved at Will Call, make sure to get to the theater early.
