For me, perfect inspiration for my art can be found absolutely anywhere, whether it is a place or a moment in time. I choose subject matter for my art based on the things I find beautiful, or the things I enjoy the most in my own life. To me, life is about gratitude, learning, romance, relationships, curiosity, and creating a full, meaningful life lived in beautiful surroundings. As such, one of m
y favorite subjects is painting women who are powerful. I love capturing their facial expression, dress, and demeanor. I am also inspired by my faith, and I often paint delicate angel wings with layers of feathers as a symbol of hope and worship. My love of history and books often finds its way into my work via favorite quotes…even beautiful handwriting can be an inspiration for an idea. I am amazed at the beauty of the natural world, like the majesty of a beautiful horse, or the miracle of the millions of shapes of flowers. I enjoy painting landscapes of all kinds, trying to capture how the laws of nature create the world we see. Some of my favorite subjects for landscapes are trees and vineyards. In a vineyard, I see beauty in the way the grapes are planted in rows. I am fascinated by how the lines of the vines make fabulous twists and turns. I love to see how the sun falls on the land and changes the colors of everything depending on the time of day or season. Most of all, I love to taste the wine, knowing all that had to come together like a symphony to make its unique taste. To me, creating art is living a joyful life, and expressing my feelings and observations through my art is the greatest challenge and the greatest gift.
