We shot this dance video a couple of months back but didn’t get to share it with you all. The day we filmed it holds a special place in our heart as we all were meeting for the first time in more than a year. It was such a memorable and lovely experience to create and shoot this dance with such an amazing group of dancers like Sudeshna Dey Shilpa Dey Tiya Mukherjee Tiyasa Roy Tania Roy Kalpita Sen. So very lucky to be able to dance with such good friends! ❤️❤️

It is about loving everything about someone including all of their imperfections. Fall is here and so is the time to celebrate Bengali’s favorite festival Durga Puja! Bengalis, wherever they are, can smell the “Pujo” in the air at this time of the year. Across the globe preparations are in full swing to welcome Durga for her short annual visit to her maternal home. But as with everything else, the Pujo celebrations will be different this year as we continue to hunker down in our homes and distance ourselves from society.
While we’d rather not have had to experience this pandemic in the first place, we can certainly shift our perspective to one of appreciation for the silver linings and the good it brought out in us. The pandemic has taught us to not take anything for granted and appreciate the small things in life. If there’s ever been a time to be grateful for our health, family and everyone around us, it’s now. Throughout it all, there have been reminders for us to make a deliberate effort to value simple things and make the most of what we have. On that note, let’s take this opportunity to enjoy our much awaited Pujo the best we can and usher in the festive spirit.

If someone told me back in January of this year as we (my daughter and I) were traveling back to Charlotte after a fun filled holiday in India, that we’d be stuck at home for the remainder of the year due to a a pandemic, would I have believed them? Most likely not. But in a matter of mere months our lives turned upside down. Our way of living, interacting, working, and socializing changed drastically with the snap of a finger...
The dance “Naina- Hope binds us together” is an attempt to represent the exhaustion and stress we are coping with since the COVID-19 virus came about, following months of restrictions and distancing from loved ones. The presentation ends on a note of hope for the crisis to be over soon with us coming out together, stronger on the other side!

This has always been my favorite song by D. L. Ray, but I had never thought of dancing to it until a coupe of months back when I came across this beautiful rendition. The very first time I heard this song I felt the urge to dance to it.
