There’s a cool story behind how Luis joined our coaching staff.

One day, I happened to watch him running a training session. What caught my attention was the detail in his coaching: the little corrections, how he communicated with the players, and the intention behind what he was teaching.

And there’s a lesson in that for every young player we work with:

You never know who’s watching.

The same way I noticed Luis coaching, someone could be watching you play when you least expect it. How you compete. How you respond to mistakes. How you treat teammates. Your effort when things aren’t going your way.

Opportunities don’t always come when you know you’re being evaluated.

FIRST EVER YOUTH OPEN PLAY = A HIT! ⚽️🔥

Nearly 40 kids. Two different age groups. Different clubs. Different backgrounds. One game.

The weather may have put our first Open Play on The GoalDen Grounds on hold, but it definitely didn’t stop us! We moved things indoors, rolled a ball out, and let the kids PLAY.

No coaching. No drills. No pressure. Just kids picking teams, competing, being creative, solving problems, making mistakes, and enjoying the game.

And with space limited indoors, parents were still able to watch all the action through our live stream thanks to our PushIt TV! 📺⚽️

Seeing nearly 40 players come together for our first-ever FREE Youth Open Play showed us there’s a real appetite for this.

The Grounds will have to wait… but Youth Open Play is officially underway at The GoalDen. 🙌

This is just the beginning.

We’re excited to announce that registration is officially LIVE for our first-ever FREE Youth Open Play at The GoalDen!

We’re kicking things off on Friday, August 28 with two age groups:

6:00 PM — Ages 7–9
7:00 PM — Ages 10–12

Our goal is simple: give kids a place to come out, play, compete, be creative, and enjoy the game. No structured training session—just an opportunity to play!

Seeing the work our players put in at The GoalDen translate to the field is what development is all about.

📊 TEST. TRAIN. IMPROVE. RETEST.

Over the last two weeks, our GoalDen members have been completing their Photon Sports assessments, giving us measurable data on where they are physically right now.

*But testing just to collect numbers doesn’t mean much*

We test so we know what to improve.

The results help us identify areas where our players can get better and allow us to intentionally incorporate those areas into their training. Then we can come back, retest and see if the work is actually making a difference.

Over the next couple of weeks, we’re putting an added emphasis on jumping mechanics and countermovement jumps — learning how to load efficiently, produce force, use the arms, explode through the ground and land properly. Developing these explosive qualities can also support acceleration, change of direction and overall athleticism on the field.

And of course… that leaderboard matters too 👀

We’re opening The GoalDen Grounds for Youth Open Play and letting the players take it from there. Pick teams, solve problems, be creative, compete, make mistakes, and most importantly… have fun.
