TelaGuitar Luthiery School Luthiery School - Guitar Building & Repair What is a luthiery school ? Our program is a two - year program. We have two locations.

It is a school where string instrument building and / or string instrument repair is taught. Our school is unque for several reasons:

1) We teach both guitar repair/maintenance and guitar building. Our program starts from the very basics of guitar repair and maintenance which then culminates in the building of a guitar ( or other related string instrument ).

2) Classes are taught within a privat

e student / teacher format - this ensures greater learning than found in a group class format.

3) Topics outside of the curriculum may also be scheduled to suit the needs of students.

4) Intern / apprenticeship programs are also available. Contact for more information.

5) Arrengements can be made for students to use our shop space for additional luthiery related projects. It can be completed within a 6 to 9 month period if a student schedules at least one class per week and is able to perform some of the building tasks outside of our shop. A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION is issued after completion of each class. Below the addresses of where our classes are currently offered :

Before (right) & after (left) pictures of Scott's Squire. In class he created a new nut, refretted, re-radiused the fingerboard, installed new pickups, replaced the pickguard, & wired new pots along with a new cap & a new output jack.

Although my output of late has mainly concentrated on very esoteric string instruments, I still retain passion for standard electric guitars with the Telecaster first and foremost in mind.
It was a pleasure to build couple of teles for Don Murphy and John McAllister from the fallen arches stock. A third one was also commissioned. You might want to contact Don or John about this fine instrument with a piece history to boot...

These are good candidates for testing out pickups and/or hardware, such as a bridge before installing them into your prized possession.
