Happy International Music Day!!
Or, as we call it in Charlotte: Thursday.

In 1974, the International Music Council designated October 1 as International Music Day, encouraging everyone to appreciate the unifying power of music! 🎶🎵

Since its establishment in 1949, the Council, affiliated with the United Nationals Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), has championed music as a means to foster community bonds and promote world peace. Led by President Lord Yehudi Menuhin in 1975, the Council aimed to dedicate a day to celebrate music's ability to bridge cultural divides and inspire harmonious coexistence among diverse communities.

As President of the International Music Council, Lord Yehudi Menuhin declared October 1 as International Music Day in a letter to IMC members. This day aims to promote musical art across society, inspire UNESCO’s ideals of peace and friendship, foster cultural evolution through shared experiences, and encourage appreciation of diverse cultures and their aesthetics.

Since its inception in 1975, over 150 countries have embraced this celebration, highlighting music's ability to unite communities and promote a more peaceful, joyful, and harmonious world. 🔥☝🎶🎵
