Twelve years ago, a mama hired me as her part-time nanny. I’d pickup her kids from their bus stop & look after them until she got home from work.

I’d help the little boy with his homework & I’d get the little girl to tell me about whatever lengthy book she was reading. I was always surprised at the length of the novels she’d read. I love a good book but I still don’t think I’ve read a book as long as the ones she regularly read in 7th grade.

We’ve stayed in touch over the years and have become like extended family.

Well, that lil girl has completed her Masters in Social Work at Appalachian State University and this evening I got to see her cross the stage and be hooded. I’m so proud of the beautiful, grown up human being she has become & I’m proud of this most recent accomplishment of hers.
